Lets say i sign up and get rotc, will i choose my mos before or after i get the scholoership?
Also are there a lot of army rangers who are officers?

also i am majoring in criminal justice so would the help my chances of becoming a mp officer?

You get to choose you MOS after you get the scholarship. You will get the chance in your senior year, 2nd semester to put in your commisisoning packet. There you will rate your top 10 choices of branches (not specific MOS) If you are a male, you have to chose 2-3 combat arms, and as a female I think you have to include one combat arms. So it will look like this 1. Military intelligence 2. military police 3 field artillery and so on to 10.
Then your packet gets sent to the Pentagon where a counsel of people go through your grades, scores at ROTC training, etc and decide what branch you get based on availablity and needs of the Army. Most people I know got their 1st or 2nd choice. I know one girl got her 6th choice. The only set match is the Army Nurse Corps...you will be commissioned as a nurse. Every other branch has nothing to do with your major. (ie you don't have to be an engineer to get branched in engineers) |

You may not get to choose your MOS. For most officers it is a wheel of fortune for your branch of service. However, I believe for ROTC, if you get the top 20% (might be wrong on the percentage) they usually allow you to choose your branch. Also, many people work out a deal to trade branches with each other.
Best advice is to do the best you can in class so that you are able to choose. |

Officers do not get to choose their MOS. They get the chance to state a preference once they are commissioned but that is all.
Ranger school used to be open to all officers who are Airborne qualified. I don't know if that is still the case though. |
