If I join the millitary as an illegal how long do I have to serve before I can retire on welfare?

what i don't understand is why people like to impersonate illegal immigrants on the internet. i guess its just to get people riled up against them. A true illegal immigrant knows better then to think that they can join the military or that without a legal child they cant get welfare. Sad to see some racist typing things like that to get to people .

When you say illegal do you mean in an immigration way? If so, your odds of actually joining up (as an ILLEGAL immigrant) are slim to none. Even if you did get in, you sign up for 22 years! You can leave earlier but if you want a pension you have to do the full 22 years.

Edit: As I have had a message from another user telling me in no uncertain terms how completely wrong I am, I should like to point out that I am referring to the BRITISH Armed Forces, not the USA.

From the MOD Website: Soldiers are eligible for an immediate pension and lump sum terminal grant after completing 22 years reckonable service from the age of 18.

And regarding the immigration issue.
From armyjobs.mod.uk: If you are from another country, you must hold a full passport from that country. Your passport must show you have an immigrant status in the UK that is valid for a minimum of four years.

You can't join,become a citizen first and you don't retire on welfare if you served long enough you'll get a pension

Depends on how long you remain alive in the army, but judging by your temper not very long. Best you can hope for is a flag, some guys shooting blanks in the air, and a name on the deadmans list, maybe a coffin too if they find your remains.

Actually you can join as an immigrant, but you have to speak English. You can find a requiter to pencil whip your legal status. To qualify for retirement you have to do a full 20, but to become a citizen you can apply after serving half of your service obligation.
Many non-citizen soldiers apply at the 2 year mark and easily become citizens.

I do believe that if Foreign nationals want to use our military to become citizens they should, we need the people and they want to become a citizen of our country.
