- Prior to US entry into WW2, FDR ordered the US Navy to escort British merchant vessels hundreds of miles beyond our territorial waters. Technically, an act of war, but...

- In Korea, when the Chinese attacked us after we pushed to the Yalu, we fought them in Korea, but we did not attack China.

- In Vietnam, the Soviets supplied the NVA with arms and even advisors, but...

- In Afghanistan, we supplied the mujahadeen with arms and advisors against Soviet invaders, but...

As I said, it's a grey area.

I'm not saying what they are doing is good, or right. But an act of war it's not.

Probably not. We do know that the US supplied weapons , chemicals, and poison gas to Iraq to use against Iran during the Iran/Iraq war, but that was ok of course because it is the US's God-Given right to violate "The Geneva Conventions", when it serves their purpose.
You realize the US has no right to be attacking Iraq but when you have the biggest bat, who is to stop you from being the biggest bully in the neighborhood.

i think it is by now a matter of fact that iran is involved in this,and i believe that would be classed as an act of war but iraq is a nightmare now for the american and british governments. another war would make public support near impossible
