It's semantics... History will decide and history is written by the victors. although how you choose to fight can decide how you are judged also. If you target civilians and ignore military targets you aren't fighting with honor. |

A patriot will stand up to defend his country soil ..else he should be called a coward. |

You are a patriot - unless the country you're defending is not the USA. Then you're a terrorist. |

Every country has the right and responsibility to its citizens to protect itself. If you protect your country and fellow citizens, you are a patriot. |

A foreign force on your soil - patriot
A foreign force on their soil- terrorist
A domestic force on your soil- terrorist
A domestic force that wins on your soil- patriot
If America hadn't won the Revolution, George Washington would've been labeled a terrorist and hung for treason. |

If you are American or friends == its ok
if you are not American or friends == you are a terrorist
We re-define double standards!! |

patriot or maybe I just want to live. And it depends on if your side wins or not. |

That depends on if your a terroist nation or not |

You will never get the correct response. It depends on which globe you ask that question. |

It depends on what you did before they invaded. If you are killing their civilians and provoke them to invade then you are a terrorist. If they invade unprovoked and you are defending your homeland then you are a patriot |
|

jamie
 |
If they come in for no reason whatsoever.. unprovoked.. then you'd be a patriot, fighting for your homeland.
Unfortunately, that doesn't apply in Lebanon.
If there wasn't so much bias in your question, you might get an answer that doesn't talk down to you...but that doesn't apply either. |

In fact you are a Patriot. but it depends. If the country which is attacking you is: The USA or Israel then you are not more than a terrorist. this is the way the world thinks! |

Well I wouldn't be a terrorist. I would attack the invading force. I would not put an explosive vest on my grandchild and send her to ride the bus with the other kids.
I wouldn't be an insurgent because I am indigenous.
Being a patriot is a subjective term and in your reality I doubt anyone who took direct action (pulled a trigger) would qualify. Unless of course, they were invading America or killing Americans here or abroad.
I would be a guerrilla. I would wear no uniform (there goes my protection under the Geneva Convention). Just like our captives in every war were not protected. I would hit and run. I would damage anything I could to slow or stop in invaders progress. And I would watch my back closely for you and others like you.
Good day! |

Good question. I suppose when we invaded France we could have been considered terrorist according to some of those above and Germany in WWII .... Hypothetical questions like this one seems to bring out the anger in America haters who like to give their uninformed position. The tendency to think in small terms tends to keep a person from seeing the overall picture. If you would look at all the attacks on the US by Hezbollah and Ha mas since 1979, I think you would agree they are a Terrorist organization. Israel is the only country w/ the guts to stand up for itself. They are patriots to defend their country. We always feel sorry for the underdog which this seems like the case. But it isn't. The Hezbo's are a proxy for another country, Iran. If I was told I wasu need to be wiped off the face of the earth, I would do exactly what Israel is doing now. In truth they are the underdog in this fight. From the nature of your question, it seems you have been victimized by the anti-Israel media. Read some of Clausewitz's The Art of war and you'll understand what the fight is about. |

That depends, if that foreign force is UK, American or Israeli, and you fight it you are a terrorist, if not, then you are a freedom fighting patriot.
Simple. Why does anyone not get that double standard? |

Depends on who's side you ask. |

there's a difference when the so called country being invaded uses the killing of civillians as some sort of way to drive out the so called invading country. if they fought with some degree of respect for innocent lives, thier countrymen, then yes they would be patriotic. but since they kill innocent civillians, they don't respect their fellow countrymen and therefore don't respect their country. this would make them a terrorist. also if you're implying iraq in some way, to let you know almost more than half of the insurgents fighting american troops aren't even from iraq. so hence that wouldn't make them a patriot, but a terrorist. hope that helps. |

Patriot ,why will someone invade and expect you to be looking as fool, will America allow invasion of cuba for keeping the man that wanted to kill castro as self defence , hahahahahahaha |

Terrorism requires an at of terror, usually a shock and awe concept
Defending your country and fighting for the thing u believe in can be considered patriotic |

a patriot, but if you're a terrorist before the invasion then you're kinda both. |

If you are holding your own country hostage and some one comes and to free you from that they are the good guys and you are the terrorist. |
