If a person served in the military and has an honorable discharge can he/ she still be deported?

If they never became a US Citizen and they
committed a Crime...yes they can take away
his "Green Card" and Deport them...

It is done all the time...
A "Green Card" can be revoked for
"ANY" Criminal Action at anytime...

Seen a Vietnam Combat Veteran Deported.

Yes. Have seen it happen. If you do not gain citizenship in accordance with the alw you can and will be deported regardless of discharge type.

Any non-citizen can be deported.

What you need is good legal defense at deportation hearing. Hopefully the reason for deportation can be far out weighed by reasons to remain in USA. Loss of support to children & family who may be citizens (your departure can mean government will now have to pay for children in food & medical aide programs) & then add the good character of having served country. But that's all it is, a character reference.

I want to say no...I was at basic training and AIT with a few people that joined to get their citizenship...

I'm sure there are steps involved to make sure you become a citizen of the US... so if they didn't follow through with the dog and pony show, then yes... they could probably be deported.

As a citizen and a soldier in the army, I think if you are not a citizen, and you want to join the military--that should be an automatic thing... I believe that you should just automatically become a citizen (with honorable discharge, or if your a lifer, good career, good counseling statements, good NCOER, etc...)
