let me tell you a short story.50 years back,some wise men requested one of the sheikhs to start laws in his shakhedom,and should be applied on all eqally.his answer was :i agree on a condition,that it should not be applied on me.
now if the answerers say yes,they will legitemize the ressistance in iraq,which was approved by president bush himself when he said that he would resist if his country is invaded.that is why they belive that law should be applied on every one ,but them.

Sounds like you're paralleling your hypothetical with Iraq.

Please understand that the majority of Iraqis are not participating in the roadside bombs and suicide bombings of innocent civilians. They are Saddam loyalists and foreign fighters from neighboring Syria, Saudi Arabia and Iran.

Hell yeah. It our duty to protect our country. And to all those people crapping about Iraqi insurgents, less than 10% or the insurgents were foreigners. The Iraqis DONT want "freedom" and "democracy", not with the help of the US, or any other country. Stop believing your 'trusty' new agencies like Fox news, CNN, BBC, and other crappy channels.

There's a difference in what's going on in Iraq and what happened in that 1980's film Red Dawn.

The insurgents are not Iraqi people, they are psychotic militants coming in from the neighboring little terrorist pissant countries. They are doing it not the help the Iraqis, but to try and take over the country.

Let's see, if my government gassed my family, raped and tortured my sister and fed my uncle into and industrial shredder, and threatened me with death and dismemberment if I tried to worship or speak freely, then if someone invaded and lifted that tyranny off my back, and offered me rights and freedoms and liberty, would I fight them?

It all depends. If the previous ruler was like Saddam Hussein and Co. I'd do nothing for at least two years and see what happens. If I didn't like what was going on then I'd probably start organizing an opposition..

Of course if I were one of those who thought Saddam was my hero and could do no wrong. I'd start disrupting everything I could so I could go back to burning, rapeing, and pillaging.

It's a bit of a trick question. Without a formal military the U.S. would'nt exist. I can say that Yes I'd personally attack the invaders. The perfect quote for my personal view:

It is every Americans duty to protect our country if we were attacked with no true form of military. Howerever, we have militia and police to assist.We have government recognized organizations who would heed the call.This is a hypothetical question that is pointless really. The U.S has always and will always have a military backbone and structure.

Yes I would protect my country as long as my country deserved my protection. However if my country were to fail me terribly as a citizen and go completely against what this country stands for I think we would ourselves heed the call and a civil war would break out to resolve the issue.

Then I guess I would have to choose a side and would weigh it all out and make the best informed decision I could as to what side I'm on and then join that side...
