Our Man In Bananas

I'd crack and tell them everything as soon as they showed me the rubber hose !!!
I would in fact ask them if they could just take a statement without even bothering to show me the tools... and I would ask them if they could give me some makeup so it looked like I'd been beaten :)
That's why I'm not in tha army, and I admire and support those who are!

I would go down fighting. I'm not fit to be a POW. Maybe I could take a couple of them with me. |

Fancy That
 |
Everyone would eventually crack. That is why I'd kill myself before being tortured. |

They wouldn't need to torture me, just get me drunk and I'll tell em anything they want to know. |

yes probably, just being realistic. |

I think statistically everyone does eventually

Have read alot about this subject. The opinion is everybody will eventually crack when torture the only variation is the time it takes to do so. (unless your Jack Bauer in 24!!) |

I certainly would, hate pain |

Proud to be an AMERICAN

I would try not to, but I am not a courageous person.
I honor those who are. |

I would sing like a canary. Hence I'm not in the armed forces! |

as i have been told many times, everyone cracks at some point. the thing is torture happens in many different ways from mentally to physically to emotionally and so on.
time after time of any of this will break down the spirit and mind of any man, the one thing all soldiers are told inbriefings just before being deployed is to focus your mind on other things, and to remember its a game you might might not have info but they will carry on till you tell them what they want to hear and that could be the truth or lies.
but remember to tell a lie you have to be an excellent liar, and this is is harder than you think. |

Yes. The first 24 hours are pretty tough, if you survive that then you've got a problem. This is when they start using their blow torches on your privates.
You go deaf with your own screams. |

It's not if one would crack...it would be to what extent until one would crack, unless God gave you a supernatural power to overcome pain. |

I honestly don't know what I'd do.. Haven't been in that situation yet. |

I probably would. I can't stand pain and to be tickled or asked the same question more than twice. |

Only if they called me names (remember that British marine). |

Undoubtedly. Anyone will crack eventually if tortured. |

i would like to be leave that i could hold out for even a little time... but then i would crack i think.... but everybody should hold out even for a short time as more time gone by more then likely what ever you was doing might be finished so if you cracked and told all it might not matter..... as your unit etc might be moved on or in a total new area.... so all info given might be out of date...... |

everyone breaks, it's a matter of time |

I really dont know as I have never been tortured before. The only thing I could do is mentally prepare for it if it were to happen. |

Many years ago when I was in Vietnam I was scared about that sort of thing happening as I was in a small unit way out in the boonies. At some point I made the decision that I could not endure capture and had decided to kill myself rather than be taken prisoner. I can't begin to explain the dynamics of that decision on this page but it was very real and I'm glad it never was tested. |

Most likely, the human body and the link to the mind separate at some point as a result of pain and desperation.
Ask John McCain, I believe he has a fair amount of experience as a POW. |

Absolutely not... unless they hurt me. |

That is a bit of a stupid question in the sense of how do you know what you will react like under pressure it is all very well to say about torture I am sure that anyone caught in Iraq is not thinking that.
Some of these countries will do what they feel they need to and they do not give a **** about the Geneva convention.
In most cases if you do not know anything you are banging your head against a brick wall. |

Yak Rider

Sure I would. But I'd have the common decency to make them beat it out of me. Those British sailors and Marines were a disgrace. |
