If i am under TriCare Standard how much can i expect 2 pay out of my pocket if i go n 4 a 1st time preg. check?

Tricare standard covers your entire pregnancy at no cost as well as your six week check up :D Also they admitted me to the hospital (pre-eclampsia) 2 days before they induced me and i didnt have to pay anything

Well first you need to call your doctor and ask how much is a first pregnancy visit, usually $350 to $400. Also you should go to a TriCare agent and ask about Tricare Prime, I signed up for this and didn't need to qualify. All active duty family members qualify for it. I don't have to pay a thing now.

I swapped to tricare standard at the beginning of my last pregnancy (2 years ago) and, at that point, they had just changed tricare standard for pregnancy. Everything regarding your pregnancy will be 100% covered except for stays in the hospital. That has a daily co-pay of around $15. It is a great deal to be able to pick your own doc. ANy other doc visits (regular docs for general sickness) will fall under normal tricare co-pay.

It looks like if you're planning on using a birthing center (instead of a hospital) for the delivery outpatient services for maternity would be $25

ETA - I don't know why someone would say Prime costs more because we had my daughter on prime and we didn't pay a single cent for anything. Maternity, labor, delivery, everything was taken care of.

Depends on if you plan on seeing a Dr. or midwife. My sister does not have insurance. She went and had a dating ultrasound, as well as bloodwork, and it's costing her $375 for a single visit.. I think Standard has a 30% copay.

Tri Prime is a pain, but you can't beat 100% coverage. The only hassle with it is that you have to have ONE primary care manager, and he or she has to refer you for everything..that's it.

I would look into switching to Prime!

I was faced with the same thing...My problem was solved though and I honestly don't know if this will help you...I was told that I would not have to pay more than $500 dollars out of pocket..

The day I had my first prenatal appointment, I talked with a financial counselor (who just so happened to be a military spouse) and I asked her what the difference was between Tricare Standard and Tricare Prime and which would she choose if she were pregnant...She said that with Tricare Prime I would pay more out of pocket, and that with Tricare Standard I would probably not pay more than $500 dollars out of pocket for the whole Pregnancy...with the exception of the days or time spent in hospital after birth...

My suggestion...At your OBGYN talk with a financial counselor and approach her with the same question... Hope this helps honey, CONGRATS
