Even if you were infantry, doesn't mean you will go. They need people over there to do all types of jobs. It's not all guys fighting on foot with rifles...

Yes of course. Their equipment needs to be maintained, orderly room need to be manned, hospitals need manning, so you could very well be deployed. Infantry require a whole bunch of support.

Yes you will be deployed but probably to Afghanistan if your not wanting to deploy and go to war then the Marines isnt for you.

Everyone in the Marine is a rifleman first and a Mechanic second. I worked on Aircraft in the USAF and I went to Iraq after the war. So to answer your question Yes you can end up in Iraq no matter what your MOS is.

Yes. You can sign up for whatever you want, but they'll put you wherever the Marines think they need you.

Besides, even if you'd stay in maintenance, who do you think is over there repairing Humvees, tanks, and such?

Just about every USMC MOS is needed in the sand box.

Who do you think cooks, repairs vehicles, handles personnel paperwork, handles pay...etc, etc, etc. NOT the Infantry.

anything is possible just remember not to go in on what is called and open contract you will end up in the infantry, get the M.O.S. you are signing up for guaranteed

You are in the Marines man! Come on! The Marines get deployed all the time. You can be deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, Beruit, Liberia, or Columbia tomorrow! They have a saying: "Every Marine a Rifleman!"

Any and most likely all Marines will be deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan or somewhere at least once in a contract, if not more. Whether they are infantry or not.
