That's why you want to join the Army or marines (always small 'm') in the first place, to get into the action. You can always play the saxophone in the Army Band, be a cook, clerk, mechanic, etc., or join the Air Force or Navy. Or just tell the recruiter you don't want to see any combat, he'll understand (maybe). |

By then it may well depend on the particular job field you are in but why would you join the Marines (always capitalized), if you were apprehensive about combat. It's what Marines do, they do two things and they do them well, they break things and they kill people, that's their job. You might want to stick with the Army. |

It doesn't matter if were still in the war or not. Your chances are very high regardless. We always have troops in the middle east. Even before 911. For iraqi government purposes and voting. So yes. It's highly possible. |
