Im joining the Navy and I don't want to wait 6-9 Months before I get shipped out. My recruiter isn't doin much leg work and he wont take the time to find out an approximate time frame other than 6-9 months. However, he's told me he's receieved several memos stating the Navy is in critical need for CTIs. Any help would be appreciated. I tend to get better and more accurate answers from yahoo answers than I do from my own recruiter. Thanks Again. You guys are the best.

1. Your recruiter doesn't have anything to do with when you ship out.
All he can do is put your name of the fast ship list and then you have to hope someone else who choose CTI who has a earlier ship date, drops out of DEP.
2. Just because a job is critical, doesn't change how many people are allowed in an A school class or how many A school class's there are.
You have to wait until there is an opening in an A school class for CTI, that can be anywhere from 6 to 9 months down the road.
The A school class's are usually booked full, well into the future.
The reason your recruiter cannot give you a better answer, is he just doesn't know. he has to wait for MEPS to tell him, just like you do. |

Not MOS.. RATING.. and yes the average is 6-9 months no matter what rating. DLI is backed up too.
you cannot ship until there is a slot open in Monterey. you can request to ship out earlier if somebody drops out. |

Well, if their in critical need of that job I would venture to guess you won't be waiting 6 months. You won't find out how soon you ship out until you actually go to MEPS and sign your contract. That's the only way to find out, other than your recruiter calling ahead. Tell him to call them and find out or else you will switch to another branch. That will get his attention. He's probably not dedicating as much attention to you because he knows you've already decided for sure to join. |
