in the U.S and the U.K there will be a draft especially after they create another false flag event and manipulate the country into fighting for there country when in reality its not its for the global elite . heres how ,who and why : http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=786048453686176230&q=terrorstorm world war three will be here in years not decades if people dont wake up and they wont .

DO I CARE?
Wars are pointless. Wars are about nothing.

They can't make people join, but they can draft them!

I think since the change in Congress, Bush gets no blank check and no oversight, which is corrupt! Those days are gone, and Bush better get ready to start withdrawing troops, not putting more in.

st.abbs
I don't think they can, anyway hopefully B liar and his cronies will be gloriously defeated in the next election and next in will withdraw from this awful war with Iraq.

Very unlikely, and this could only be done by an Act of Parliament in a State emergency.

The reinstatement of the draft would be absolutely insane...not to mention political suicide for anyone sitting in the current administration team...

It will not happen, unless there is some sort of joint attack from hostile countries and we have to enter into a lagitimate confrontation (the one we in know is no longer legit...my opinion).

the current state of affairs is sad...we are looking at people who are in charge of those willing to give the ultimate sacrifice...yet they do not know what to do...so they imploy "lets see if this works" judgements...putting thousands of people in harms way for political guesswork. completely insane.

Most of the answers you have received seem to have come from Americans so I assume (maybe wrongly) that you are also American. Being a Brit, I can't answer this from the American position but only yesterday, the British Government announced that they were increasing the maximum age for joining the army from 26 to 33. This happened ONE DAY after the appalling conditions that our troupes live in it was revealed in various newspapers and other news media. Am I talking about Afghanistan or Iraq? No I'm talking about ENGLAND!

Unfortunately this is another example of our corrupt Labour Government bursting into life when they've been caught out. I could give you many other examples such as the wrong equipment in Iraq and the lack of ammunition! But they wouldn't be relevant to your question.

Yes, but with deferments for the "important" children.

There won't be another draft. They can try, but it won't happen. To get more recruits, they'll just have to keep lowering their standards.

And to the poster above me, its easy to call a man a coward for not wanting to be drafted when you're a woman and can't be drafted.

I dont think they can due to human rights. They want a war they should fight it theirselves.

No, the British army is first and foremost a professional volunteer army. It's downsizing has led to it becoming more of an expeditionary force and lower numbers will only mean a greater recruitment drive and some re-organising at worst (amalgamation of further regiments/corps). Conscription would apply only in a national emergency......in which case you probably have a better chance of survival in the army if things got that bad. Hope that helps

The government has always reserved the right to draft civilians.

possibly, but if lady garden BUSH wants to stay in power than no.

i hope not.. i don't want my brother to have to fight a war that some moron arbitrarily started >< well i probably wouldn't want him in any

i think they should only be allowed to draft if the war is on american soil
otherwise its dumb because we're on teh offensive!

The US Army cannot enstate a draft. The draft must be approved by Congress and forced on the public. All Generals and Congressional Representatives save 2 oppose the draft so no, there will be no draft given today's political climate.

Simply put yes they can. All the people who have put they cant due to human rights and all that have you considered what would happen if they didnt make you join. You wouldnt have human rights because some dictator would be in charge and your right would mean diddly squat.

It should be the duty of any member of a free state to play there part in the defense of freedom and the rights they believe they deserve. If people think this is a violation of there human rights they should live in a country thats not free.

I would hope and expect the British government to demand such action if the situation ever arose and I would be honoured to play my part.

They can restart the draft yes. Then that will force all men ages 18 and older to serve their country if they want to continue living here and enjoying their freedoms. If the men choose not to serve they will have to run and hide like the cowards they probably are. That is the reason that as each boy in this country gets close to his 18 birthday he gets that little card in the mail wanting all of his info, in case they need to draft him.

All recruitment goals are being met.
