If the Marines are honest with themselves, the organization is only as good as the people in it. There are good people in ALL the branches of the military. Marines ten to brag more. That is what it amounts to. |

Yes, if winning wars was decided by a boxing match then my hats off to you. And if winning a boxing match is what you rate as showing "the best training" then you are completely out of touch.
Being a "bad ***" is much more then just fighting. It is our discipline, pride, adaptability and unwillingness to fail that makes us what we are. I would never claim the Corps could go it alone ... we need our brothers in arms. But here is something to show winning wars is more than being good in a boxing ring:
Operation Iraqi Freedom: The invasion plan called for the U.S. Army to take Baghdad with the U.S Marines in support. However, the Army couldn't keep up with the U.S. Marines advance. So it was handed to the 1st Marine Division to take Baghdad. THAT is an example of why we are bad asses.
So go win all the boxing matches you want. We'll take care of the real fights.
"America is NOT at war. The U.S. Marines are at war. America is at the mall."
To Respond to Recruiter:
We are busy fighting wars, not promoting boxing matches. Like I said earlier .. my hats off to you and the Army in the ring. BUT that says nothing about war fighting. And there lies the root of your problem. You are comparing man vs man in what amounts to a game. I am talking about the reason our Armed Forces exisit ... to defend our country and fight its battles. So if winning a stupid boxing match is all you can hang your hat on then .... well, thats just sad. Congratualtions. Keep racking up the belts and me and my fellow Marines will focus on winning the wars. You have however, spoken your point like a true recruiter ... I am sure some of your fighting soldiers would find the events in Iraq and Afghanistan a little more important though. |

I think you answered it----the Army trains better boxers. There is a lot more to being a bad *** than boxing. I'd have to say that the Marines are bonafide bad asses. Then again, so is the Army. Thank God both are on our side. |

Because we send our bad asses to war instead of keeping them behind to compete in some silly boxing match. |

Yeah boxing determines what kind of person you are and how great you are with a weapon. Uh huh.
You go LavaDog.
I would rather have a well trained Marine or Soldier next to me, rather than Mike Tyson.. I like my ears. |

When women think of men, they think of a Marine.
When they think of an ex hippie wearing camouflage
pants and a 5 day stubble they think of an Army guy.
You boys have been boxing the clown for decades while the Marines have been getting things done...
I guess experience is just on your side . |

lol, because while you army pukes are stopping to train for boxing, us marines are out learning how to do our job more effeciently... and for the fact that the army is 6 times larger then the usmc, so they have a much bigger 'pool' to chose from.
hell... even our band provides army convoy protection...

Winning at boxing has nothing to do with who is a better trained fighting force, it's boxing. In combat Marines and Army come to the aid of eachother in a heartbeat.. Both Army and Marines have "United States" in front of their name. |

Boxing is not indicative of who is a better bad ***. Mike Tyson was invited to particpate in the UFC's and wouldn't. Why is that?
What I'd really like to see is you guys duke it out in the UFC. Then I can make a better determination as to who the real bad asses are.
They also get to use their knees, can punch to the face unrelentlessly and keep fighting until one taps out or the ref calls the fight.
And they do this without boxing gloves on. |

The difference here is clear, the Marines are a well disciplined fighting force who meld as team to defeat those that would take our freedoms from us. The Army fails to instill discipline or any type of morals in inductee's. The Army slogan of; "An Army of One" is very true, they only care about themselves and this carries on into life after the service. A Marine can be counted on to back up a brother for the rest of his life, they just naturally perform better and are fantastic leaders. Don't worry, a Marine somewhere will protect all those Army pogues from themselves. |

for the same reason the NAVY always kicks the Army's assets in the Army Navy football game. |

The Army can walk all over the Marines. The Army man can say "BOO!" to a Marine and the Marine will run like a scared animal. |

US army has won the boxing more number of times than the USMC. A competition is organised every year for the boxing. The us army is winning it every year. I also like to see the boxing. I am very fond to watch pacquiao vs mosley fight.
