If the US and China went to war with one another who wold win?

yeah... Numbers don't matter anymore. The U.S. would dominate because of our technology and ambition. America is coming together and pride is becoming more noticeable. The Chinese have been increasing over the years in military. But the U.S. holds their position as the world superpower. America has the heart to succeed in any battle and won't let anyone talk us down. The economy is going down for us but our strength is still as strong as ever.

Depends on where it was. China is a regional power, meaning they can only support military operations near their borders, so if the conflict involved China having to move troops, equipment or supplies by sea or further than a couple of hundred miles from her borders she would be at a very great disadvantage. China does not have the navy or air force to support force projection at this time.

Well its hard to say, the US certainly has a powerful military force and with years of battle hardened vet's in the loop. But the Chinese out number us greatly. And with the loom of there rising economy and power, we wouldn't want to make enemy's with them.

It's best not to think about going to war with china. We really have no reason to. Hypothetically speaking, it would be devastating for both sides.

If the US and China went to war, we would have a trade war even after the physical fighting stops.

I think that the US would win militarily, but then lose on the trade front.

As no one really knows what China is really capable of doing, it is nearly impossible to predict who would win. But they do greatly outnumber the US and they do have a pretty big arsenal.

I would say "don't" even go there.

EDIT. Some of you are getting fantasy mixed up with reality. One thing is sure, you could not take on China on your own and even this might not be enough to win - that is reality. It might even generate a few good movies - fantasy.

I have every respect for the US military, so don't think I'm bashing the US.

For those of you that say numbers don't matter, then ask yourselves, why is it basic infantry tactics to attack a section of enemy with a platoon and attack a platoon position with a company of men. Ask any infantry guy, they will confirm this and that they like the odds.

Anyway, who cares, as it will never happen.

No one really, depends on what they decide sitting around the negotiating table at a cease fire.
Weapon battles these days hardly ever result in victory over looser.
Politics is the winner.

Well the US military is definitely better equipped than the Chinese military, but in terms of people power we'd be far outnumbered. Also, how will we pay for our war efforts? China has funded our war efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan for the past 5 years...if we went to war with China we wouldn't be able to get loans to be able to supply and train our military anymore, so it's hard to say.
