Well...17 years ago, when I was in that very situation, I wrote letters home to a few people...then did my job calmly and resolutely, secure in the knowledge that if everyone in my unit did their jobs, we had little to worry about...and if we failed, another unit would finish our mission. |

You meantlly prepare yourself that it could possiblty happen but you take faith in your traing and the traing of those with you. At the time of engagement you don't have time to think only to react, if not for yourself but for your buddies!

Anyone that let me know they think like this, would not be allowed near a combat zone with me. They are already defeated and might take me with them. |

That's way deep, and to much for me to answer. I would like to think that I am fighting for the right cause and feel honored to be able to spill me blood for my country. But seeing as how I am not in that position, I really don't know.
How thought provoking! |

I would write as many letters as I could and make sure that they somehow got delivered to my loved ones. I would also make peace with God and go into battle knowing that my place in heaven is waiting for me.
Each time I hear or read about soldiers dying in Iraq, I always take the time to say a small silent pray for them and their family. Sometimes I'll find myself crying for the families after hearing it on the radio. May God truly bless all the soldiers that have died defending us. My prayers go out to each and every family. |

Depends how much time I have. If I had enough time, I would travel to a place I've never, been to. If not, I would make peace with my fate and just try to spend as much time with those I love. Then I would go somewhere like a forest and see something beautiful one last time. |

Take all risks and kill as many of the enemy as I can before that time comes. |

Well I think soldiers go into a war knowing there is a significant change of dying; he or she is willing to risk his or her life for others; it is the ultimate sacrifice..and honestly, i could not do that. I have great respect for those that fight for my country, despite the morality of the war (i.e. Iraq War) but I guess I am too selfish to do so.... |

Before I left I would want to spend my final days with the people that I love and perhaps write letters to everyone that I would mail out after I left. Just letting them know why they are so important in my life. And, of course, just like you king, I would want to eat all of my favorite foods before I die too. |

Don't hang around people who feel that way. Let them do their own thing, but keep others away from them. |

to tell you the truth, no different than a civilian
each individual must realize death can come from anywhere and anytime,
coffee shop? mall? school? church?
aren't you enjoying every minute you have?
Todays war is not just for the soldiers, civilians need to wake up too |

I would express my love to all my friends and family as best I could.
I would hope to live and die well protecting my comrades. |

Depends on the war (as bad as that sounds)....
If it was for something I believed in then I would go, if it was this nonsense I fake my own death and start a new life in Paraquay..... viva paraquay. |

Nobody thinks like that. We have a value of human life unlike our enemy. Besides, all your paperwork is taken care of at the mob. station. ie wills, beneficiaries,etc... |
