My wife is thinking about joining. She was thinking active air force, and I already am. But, we want kids somewhat soon and with the reserve she can sort of do both, and go to school. Anyway, Im sure I probably wont have to move for a while..i know guys at my shop who have been here for 10 years, but there is still always that chance. So, what happens if she joins the reserve, and then I get re-stationed? Can she also switch units or not?

All it takes is a little paperwork. It took me about a week to get all the paperwork done to switch bases. So yes, she can move bases. The only problem would be the nearest Reserve unit not having a slot for her job. |

Yep, she has to put in for a transfer. The downfall is that she has to find a unit with a slot open for her in her AFSC. So she may have to travel for drill. Also you are going to have to have a family care plan in case you both deploy at the same time, when you have children. |

If you move, yes. You will be assigned to the closest unit in most cases. |
