Thats a tough one, Britain has excellent firepower and equipment but is fairly small nowadays.

Russia has been declining for many years now, up until 2-3years ago, they couldnt afford jet fuel for new test flights of planes or to upkeep their submarine fleet so they were sitting in harbor rusting.

China is interesting in that they copy everyone else so they're always a step behind in technology and equipment but they have such big numbers.

I would probably say Britain based on quality of soldiers and excellence of equipment.

They have the numbers, but they also have the smarts to know wars just waste resources of other countries
So instead of shooting you, they will take away your job, your future, your confidence in the government

By virtue of numbers, China. Obviously the largest in manpower. I have heard they also have the largest land based air force, though many of these are older soviet planes. Also with each passing year their military budget is growing and growing.

king of the hill?,what hill?,last time i looked the US military couldnt go anywhere without the british holding their hand,its not a case of who is the best because no nation can now commit to warfare on a globel scale on their own,all the answerers that have said russia,china,or even india are not seeing the question for what it is,certainly these countries have large military resouces that amount to nothing if they want to wage war on the west as their respective borders limit the amount of ground they could hope to gain,they all have supply line problems not to mention the combined forces already in europe and the middle east that are more then capable of containing any advance they may make,the american military machine can only sustain its self for so long before needing military assistance from other countries,remember the gulf war?,was it not an american general who asked for british special forces to carry out missions behind enemy lines because the american special forces had no experiance at this type of warfare?,the point im making is that by themselves no country can be called the best if they need others to back them up,on a pro-rata basis the british army are up there with the others who see themselves as the best but america like the rest of the world forget that this so called war on terror is nothing new to us,since the end of ww2 britain has been involved(rightly or wrongly) in conflicts world wide to the present time of which 30 years of this was spent putting the IRA in its place and the only involvment america had in this was to supply the IRA with the means to carry on ,in war,everyones a loser,

China then Russia i think. Russia is kinda lagging behind in technology though, they have way more tanks but they are sooo much worse than american ones.

Britain is the only western Army that has beaten a comunist army and they did it at least twice.

Once in Malaya and once in Oman.

The French have a better military record than you do.

As far as training and capability the British match the US force pretty well and always have. They don't have quite as good technology but very close. They aren't near the Size. We have more soldiers in Baghdad then they do in the entire British Army. We only have about 5% of our force in Baghdad.

But I might have to go with the Chinese. They don't have the capability to match the US outside to sustain any war away from their boarders and very little technology compaired to the US. Some times you can win if you have more Soldiers than the other Army has bullets though.

As for America being king of the hill, they may well be for manpower and weaponry but for technical know how forget it, If you knew how to use your weapons there would not be 'friendly fire'#

Britian has to enter a war first??? Surely you jest. Do you mean enter a war that you lose like the americans? Cos if thats so then your right we havent entered into many of them. However, when we do go to war WE WIN! And we dont 'accidently' kill our allies

Somalia- America 19 dead 73 wounded. Somalia 1000 to 1500 dead 3000+ wounded.
Iraq- america 4000 dead. Iraq depending on who you go by 100,000 all the way up to 1,000,000 dead.
