If you had proof that your military husband was having an emotional or physical affair, how would you proceed?

Pack your bags and go. What is an emotional affair ? You seem to be reaching for excuses to get out of your relationship, so just go. Why make both of you miserable ?

First, decide whether you're going to leave him.

If you aren't, then don't do anything to affect his career. His income is what you're living off of, right? Things you do to him can affect you.

But, if you are going to leave him, then by all means contact his chain of command and JAG.

Let him know your proof and give him an opportunity to explain. Let him know how serious this is and give him the opportunity to straighten it out just between you two. You may not need to involve other people. Many couples can work through stuff like this.

Get your proof - FACTS, consult with an attorney. Other then that confront him, and be ready for the answer.

If you can afford it and without him knowing, hire a private investigator to find out if he "really is" and if he isn't he might be having issues at work, or even depressed about some things. From the sounds of it you are withdrawn from him already because you believe him to be cheating (physical or emotional) so that could also cause feeling like this to occur.

Over all I recommend getting a PI to follow him around for a week or so, and if he isn't doing anything, see a marriage counselor before going t oa lawyer. If he is go to the legal office with your proof, you don't need to go t ohis 1SG or commander with proof, they will be contacted by legal after you bring in the evidence.

nope seeing a lawyer shouldn't be your first step.... here's why.
1. you have to have proof that he is having a physical affair in order for the military to do anything about it. if you go to his COC with emotional affair they will just tell you that they are sorry for you.
2. depending on the state they may be a fault or no fault state. this means that you have to prove that there is a reason for divorce. infidelity is a reason. if you are in a no fault state then the lawyer will just tell you how much he charges for a divorce because that is your only option. you can claim alienation of affection if you live in a fault state otherwise. just get a divorce.

gather all of the above info and proceed from there.

well i wouldn't write it in a letter as he would probably make up some excuse while writing back, and being in love, you would probs believe him.
i would probably just see a lawyer, wait for him to get home, then tell him to take his stuff and leave.

i will advice u to gather sufficient information first as proof before hiring a lawyer.

Bring it up with his chain of command, specifically his 1st sgt and his company commander. If you need to, you can go to support groups and places such as Army Community Service, who will at least show you the correct way to proceed, where to go, etc.

Last but not least, if your husband is cheating, he deserves to have everything done above that you said... but you shouldn't because you might get yourself into some trouble
