If you were the President; What would you do about the Somali Pirates?

I know what I would do, but I am curious to see what others would do in this case.
Possible choices:
1: Send a sternly worded letter from the United Nations to Captain Jack Sparrow (attempt at humor, I know these pirates are actually terrrorists and al-qaeda sympathizers)
2: Send the Navy Seals and/or Army Rangers in to rescue the captain
3: Pay the ransom and hope the pirates will actually keep their word and release the Captain of the ship
4: Apologize to the Somali PIrates, saying that America was wrong to send a ship through with humanitarian goods on it their waters.
5: Find a way to blame Bush
6: Other (please specify)

2 The SAS will take care of any terrorist problem. Sending a letter wouldn't mean a lot to pirates. Paying the ransom does not guaranty the safe return of the captain. You don't not apologize to pirates or terrorists. This would show that America is weak and it would not save the captain. Blaming Bush doesn't solve anything. |

If I were the Prez, I would be offering millions dollars to anyone who captures the Pirates and returns the Captain. Never mind all this politically correct mamby pamby nonsense of apologizing to criminals |

I would go with 6. I am not a politically correct person. Torpedo the ship and send everyone and everything to the bottom of the sea. Just like in war, the government calculates and expects a % of losses on our part. I think that this will send a message that we will not tolerate the nonsense. The more pirates we kill the less we have to deal with. If the pirates know that this is our course of action, they may be more reluctant to mess with the USA. |
