I only have my GED bc I had to drop out of High school. I thought about getting my emt license before I even "officially" join bc I thought it might look better and wouldn't start off as a basic Grunt lol. I hate every recruiter i talk to,What would be the best possible step by step process for me in joining the service? I want to be a Doctor but like I said I only have my GED and I don't know if this is a reality for me If I join the service.I don't want to settle as a nurse!!!!What should I do?!

Your choice for now will be the National Guard - the Coast Guard isn't taking anyone with GED. |

If you want to be a doctor than I would not join the military. How were your grades before you left high school? You will need high marks in science courses at the least. I would find a junior college that specializes in the sciences and speak with a career counselor to plan out what it would take to become a doctor. I would also volunteer at a local hospital to make connections and seek out mentors. Do not refuse any volunteer work if you start out cleaning bedpans than clean bedpans and work your way up.
By the way don't discount nursing, my cousin started out as an RN became an operating nurse and now is the hospital administrator of a major hospital in Houston. She started with nothing as well and her and her husband even sold burritos in the morning to help pay the rent.

My girlfriend just recently joined the national guard. She graduates BCT next week. We had trouble with a few recruiters too, but eventually she met one that who was very helpful. He was still very helpful even after she signed up too. So you might keep looking. Maybe try recruiting offices in nearby cities. Be careful though. Some would recruit there own grandmothers if they could (they get bonuses). So be weary of any promises or guarantees they try to make cuz there are none.
I'm not sure about the other part of your question. I do know that becoming a doctor is extremely expensive and being in the military you would get a lot of help paying for college if you decided to go that route. |

not sure exactly what u should do, except i think joining the guard or the coast guard is a great idea! i thnk the experience and training you get there would be so valuable! |
