Im a sophomore in college on a basketball scholarship going into my junior year. is it to late to join AFROTC?

Im trying to become an officer in the AF when i get out of college with a B.A. degree in Criminal Justice either by applying for OTS or joining AFROTC and doing everything from there

How long does AFROTC last?

the thing is i dont know if i could join AFROTC b/c of my committment to basketball. I cant stop playing b/c it is paying for my education. we play and train all year round. we do everything from waking up at 5:30 to train, practice 3 hrs a day, afternoon workouts, games during the week, travel the state, etc. Wont this all interfere with AFROTC?

No, it's not too late. I'm an Army rotc cadet and you can join your junior year, but no later. It might be difficult with your schedule though, because we PT at 0530. However the air force ROTC cadets at our school do not PT. Your school maybe different though.
If you really wanted to though you could, and you could even quite basketball because the air force has a really good scholarship thats tough to beat. It consist of full tuition, housing allowance, and a monthly stipend. They basically pay you to go to school, and all you have to do is pass the PT test, which you should have no problem with. If you want more info just talk to your professor of military science. He should be able to answer all your questions.

Also ROTC is a class like any other, so you take it in semester intervals, and class is usually only an hour long once a week, but theres also labs, and feild training excercises that take up the whole weekend once a semester.(again this is how ROTC at MY school does it, I'm in Army ROTC but all that cadets do it pretty much the same at MY school.) And since your going in as a junior you might have to contract in before they let you do it.(That is sign a 4 year active or 6 year reserve contract. This will also pay for your tuition, housing, and monthly stipend) I wouldn't do it however, unless you want to quite basketball, and they might make you pay your basketball scholarship back, but no worries. The Air force will pay that off if it comes to that.
Also you might be able to sign a 2 year contract because they're only paying for 2 years of school.
your best bet is to talk to the professor of military science.
