You have to have a work visa or be a permanent resident of the US if you are not a citizen. As a non-citizen you won't be able to hold a commission or a top-secret security clearance, so that will limit your MOS choice, but serving in the US military will help fast track your citizenship if that is what you want.

We always have one British Officer working in my unit. One leaves and another steps in. They live at our base in the States and deploy to Iraq with us and do everything that an American Officer would do in the same job. So if you became an Officer in the UK Army you could work for the US Army for about 2 years.

Otherwise you are going to need a green card.

You do not have to be a citizen. No US law agains you joining it is just a rule started when we did not need that many recriuts. I'm sure they are accepting noncitizens again. We have many Mexican nationals that are serving honorably and have applyed for citizenship while in the Service. So there is a way. I'm sure a recuiter would help the best.
Do think about the Air Force. We have several military bases in the UK, and they do recuite people there.

Talk to a recruiter. Given your English heritage, it's likely the recruiter will ask whether you are a U.S. citizen, or at least have a "green card".

as long as you have a green card you can always join. If you don't have it then you are out of luck. sorry.

Why in the world would you want to join the us army? If you are wanting to join for the money, joining any mercenary groups would give you more money than the us army can give you.

y the hell wud u wanna join the US Army. did u know that the US army killed or fatly wounded 89 British troops. and not once did the show up for the court . they hid. they r cowards. join the UK Army

You cannot join us army. You must be citizen of country in witch army you want to serve. It's like that in all country's. So, if you want a job in us army first you must become citizen of US. Only non-english army that you can join is french foreign legion.

Y join there army not ours ? simple reason i think, better pay, more respect, no tax while on tours and better looked after. the only thing we are better with is the training
