I really want to go Active ARMY but dont want to lose my bonus or actualy have to pay it back i guess bc i Just got it about a week ago ! Is there a way to go active army without having to pay this back? I have alot of bills i need to pay with this Bonus ! I cant afford to give it back. I just really dont want to be National Guard , i like the lifestyle to much i want to Serve 24/7 not just ! weekend a month !

Aditional Info : My MOS is 21E and my unit was considered critical so i got my $20,000 in one lump sum. I want to go Active ARMY not Active National Guard!

Since the National Guard paid your bonus, they're not going to let you separate without getting most of it back. You'll get to keep a pro-rated ammount. |

My best advice to you would just be to find a unit that is deploying( if you're willing). Then you won't lose your bonus and you will be doing what you trained for 24/7. |

You need to read your bonus annex in your enlistment contract. It will specify the terms of recoupment in relation to taking an active/full time position. You will probably have to serve six month to a year to avoid recoupment. In the meantime, if you want to do some active duty, you can easily volunteer for a deployment and transition while overseas. The timing will work out to where you'll get to keep all of your bonus. |
