If you don't have the b*lls to get in harms way don't even think about joining the Marine Corps. or any other branch of our armed forces.
They're not for babies. |

Then don't go. No offense, but we don't need people in the military that are scared of getting killed. You should be proud to serve your country, and even die for it. |

Shock and Awe

Marines and 'out of harms way' don't go in the same sentence...you need to re-think your thoughts. Don't take the check if you want to work and play it safe while your brothers and sisters go fight. Do Marine or even Soldiers wants to serve with someone like this...
Remember that Lion on the Wizard of Oz? |

Try the Navy, get into something involving submarines. Either that, or you can try the Coast Guard if you are OK with the possibility of getting shot at by drug smugglers once in a blue moon.
Seriously, the Marines are probably the wrong branch of service to go into if you are worried about getting shot. |

Yeah, I think everyone has got this question right...If you're afraid of harm, The Marines aren't for you. Even if you have the slightest fear of being shot, it will work against you.
zackadoo, The Marines aren't cannon fodder. Maybe you mean Army infantrymen, but not Marines. The Marines put more emphasis on saving their own lives than any other crops in the world. Of course, they take part in the most dangerous missions, but they prepare you about 10X better than the Army. That is why on average, the Marine to enemy death ratio is about 1:200 (that's probably not the exact figure but it's pretty damn close if not further apart). |

The military is not for you. Suggest something along the lines of the Peace Corps................ |

You need to stay out of the military! |

WARLORD

tell the recruiter you want to enlist as a general. |

AJ

Ha-ha... there isn't any job that is non-deployable in the military, if it gets bad enough you can be sent over right out of boot camp... thats why everyone gets the basics, join the peace corps if you don't want to fight |

If you are wanting to avoid battle - then the military is not for you. This is what are men/women are trained to do.
Maybe you should consider the Peace Corps. |

DOOM

Then don't join the Marine Corps. |

Yea join the navy you want the name but don't want the responsibility. Don't join the Marines if you expect to sit on the side lines and do nothing. |

the military does not need people like you to serve. |

NSA

Then do not enlist in the Marines. Try Boy Scouts.
Seriously, do not enlist in any branch if you want to avoid combat.
But if you insist on being a Marine, but want to be as far from combat as possible, try maintenance, supply, or admin. But be advised, they go to combat zones. |

I know people say this but it is the truth. If you are not willing to go into harms way than you should not be joining the Marine Corps and maybe not even the military.
Even if you are afraid (which you should be, anyone who isn't scared going into battle should be considered suicidal) as long as you do it, thats what counts. |

Sure - stay home. The Marines are a proud outfit and don't need anyone hiding from a conflict. The job of the United States Military is to defend the US from all enemies foreign and domestic where ever they may be hiding including in harms way. |

Hey, I hear those infantry guys NEVER see any action. When you go to the recruiter just tell him you an MOS 0311 and you'll be just fine. |
|

Jimbo
|
Ummm, why don't you just go to the local army navy store and buy a uniform and pretend to be a Marine. You sure don't have a Marine's sense of duty, honor, and courage. That way you can stay home with mom and dad and be safe and never have to take a risk in your life. By the way, I certainly hope you grow up enough to eventually have some courage before some girl marries you and finds out that you have none. |

How about Commander in Chief like someone else we know!

Then don't go into the marines. Join the air force and learn to work on planes. That is a good paying job when you get out too. |

For a bunch of gung ho military people the first 4 answers you got were not that helpful...If you want serve but not see comabt (like most of the two million americans in uniform) try the NAVY, airforce, or reserves, maybe ROTC program..But not the marines...they are generally cannon fodder...( I mean first to fight and die therefore from the perspective of a commander a certain % of casualties is going to be expected/accepted) Even in the Corp however you can guard embassies and they also have technicians and other support people in the various theatres. Probably if you really want to enlist you need to distinguish yourself in some knowledge-skills area whereby you become more valuable than a grunt. |

UMM BEST ANSWER WOULD BE NOT JOINING AT ALL NO MATTER WHAT JOB YOU CHOOSE YOU ARE GUARANTEED TO GO AT LEAST 6 MONTH TO WAR
JOIN THE NAVY AND GET A DESK JOB THATS WHAT I DID
MORE BENEFITS AND MORE MONEY |
