In order to have peace we must have war?

I believe it to be true. Humans are warlike, it is just our nature, like every other animal on the planet. I am all for peace, I wish for it, I really do, but sometimes war is necessary. I have been in the Army for 19 years and have been part of my fair share of combat duties and truly wish that we could have that peaceful society. Will it ever happen, probably not. It is easy to say, let's just have peace, but that is a fairy tale, you know it is. There will always be someone willing to take advantage of a good natured person, and there will always be someone like me, and my fellow brothers and sisters in the military, willing to stand up against that.

I am a soldier and even though it is my job to fight in wars and take lives i want peace more than anything. i have been to afghanistan for the 3rd time now. i know many people hate me for it but i only go because i want to protect my fellow soldiers. not to kill. i am looking forward to the day when we are not at war and i could actually spend more than 2 weeks with my 2 kids.

How about I come over and take over your house, make you give me all your money, support me while I goof off, and force you to do whatever it is that I want. Why won't I do that if I could? Why don't I just tell you to stfu and not express your opinion and if you do, I will rip your computer right out of your house. Would you acquiesce? In order to have peace you must be prepared for war, if you're not prepared to defend your peace others will take it away from you.

The paradox of this statement is strange, but it is also true. Human nature has people always wanting more power and people must fight against this aggression. In this way people must have war for peace.

Yin and yang, one can't exist without the other. We wouldn't have a word for peace if war didn't exist. Actually, war is somewhat heathy for the economy. Almost everything would be different too if war didn't exist. Don't get me wrong, war is a horrible thing, and most wars are pointless, but be careful what you wish for, because without war, more then a few things would be gone, and you would miss them.
