according to a friend of mine he went to jail while he was in the US Air Force because his wife lost some library books belonging to the on-base Us Air Force Library ............... he said he the they put him in jail for 3 weeks because of of the loss of the books ..................... is he pulling my leg? lol they were not security sensitive books just ordinary library books ...

It would not be over the books exactly.
It would most likely be over an order of some type. If an officer gave him an order to find the books or pay for them, and he dis-obeyed the order, then yes he could go to jail over a reason caused by books. The charge would dis-obeying an order, not losing books.
Basically, it is possible, but there has to be more to the story then what he is telling you. |

No, just tell the library you have misplaced them, and ask to pay to replace them. Do you really think the military is going to waste it's resources (losing you at work, and taking up space in jail) over a library book? No. |

Sounds like a tall tale to me, however I have heard of the base library calling servicemembers who are deployed in Iraq/Afghanistan because their spouse had overdue library books. |
