In the military u have inlisted for 4 years!!!?

my friend is in the air force for 4 years and is stationed for 2 years in wyoming after his two years can he pick were he goes or do they pick for him?

Mara,
Your friend can help the decision by being proactive and calling ahead to where he wants to go and finding out if there are any openings for his particular skill. Then he needs to take that info (if it's a yes) and call the person responsible for his job field and discussing options. If it works out well than, Yes he picked, if it doesn't at the end of the day the Air force (and every other branch of service) will put him where they need him.

you get to fill out a wish list of where you wanna go, but the air force is gonna put you where they need you. so yes they pick for you.

You let them know where you want to go and they send you whereever they want but may try to fit you in based on availability.

Most military contracts are for 8 years. Usually 4 years active, and 4 years inactive reserve. However, in the inactive reserve, you don't drill like the regular reserve or get any benefits.
