Any except HN (you can get assigned to a Marine unit). Everything else is pretty safe. There are other ratings that can apply for a more combative assignment... but it's going to be your request and intentional. I don't think any are without danger of any kind, but neither is life at home.

When I was in Navy Boot Camp some guy asked me, "Do you want to die for your country?" I guess I gave the appropriate answer because I spent the next four years enlisted and the next 20+ as an officer. I did some pretty non-Navylike things for the first half of that.

I think you need to ask yourself that question. If you love your life more than your country then you're relegated to those of whom the following were written.

"People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf." (George Orwell)

“War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing that is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.” (John Stewart Mill)

“These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly.” (Thomas Paine)

People have said freedom isn't free, but none seem aware exactly what the price of freedom is. The "bill" is in the last few words of our Declaration of Independence, "... we pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor." The bill will never be paid, and it's up to each generation that enjoys those freedoms to pay their installment.

You're a total troll who, by reading some of the answers you've posted, know nothing about the military. If you are not willing to deploy then do NOT join the military. You're the kind of person who gets other people hurt if you DO deploy and wind up in a sticky situation.
There's nothing wrong with loving your country and not joining the military. There are other ways to be patriotic and have pride for your country. No one will think any less of you for not joining the military, but don't join if you aren't willing to deploy. That's when the trouble comes.

I tried to check their website. They don't have a list of the specific jobs offered in US Navy unlike the others (Air Force, Marine Corps etc) but I know they have office jobs or jobs in the health field. Not all of them are to go to the battle field so really, you will always find something that suits your interest, life style and all that. Try to contact your local US Navy recruiter. They should have a list of job opportunities in the area where you are located. Hope this helps. : )

Dude
Really man....any Navy careers are probably safe.
