In your opinion what should i weigh at 5'9 to help me be the best Navy Seal I can be?

In your opinion, what should I weigh at a height of 5' 9 (keep in mind i might keep growing I'm still pretty young lol)? I currently weigh 145, I and am bulking up but I want to know where to stop. I am 17 and am planning to enlist at 22. I was thinking that I should weigh about 175 when I go into BUDS. I will be even more fit then I am now. I can already qualify to be a Seal but it's not my attitude to shoot for minimums. These are where I should be about when it's about time for me to enlist.

500yd Swim <9:00
2 min Max Pushups 100+
2 min Max Situps 100+
Max dead-hang Pull-ups 20+
1.5 mile run <9:00

Or does it not matter really how much I weigh ha?

What you want is the highest efficiency of strength to mass. The extra weight won't help you if it slows you down too much, just like being super light and agile won't be enough if you don't have enough strength. At 5'9" tall, with an average bone-structure, I think you would want to shoot for the minimum body fat you can possibly attain, combined with the highest amount of stamina you can achieve, with a reasonable degree of agility and flexibility. I would personally shoot for between 150 and 175 pounds. If you are as light as 150 I would try to capitalize on your speed, agility, and flexibility. If you are as heavy as 175 you want the vast majority of that weight to be muscle to make up for how much that weight will slow you down.

Bear in mind also that you will expend more energy to perform a task if you are heavier, even if you are strong enough to do the task at the same speed as a person 25 pounds lighter. Just think of it like a car race. A smaller lighter car can achieve a certain speed within a certain number of seconds. In order for a heavier larger car to perform the same task, not only does it's engine have to be much larger, it will also use a lot more fuel.

No matter which way you go you WILL be deficient in something. For instance, the heavier car with the bigger engine can match the speed of the lighter car with the smaller engine in a straight line but will be challenged if the road goes into curves. The lighter car will out perform the larger car on curves but if you add cargo to both cars it will hurt the lighter car's performance much more. If the 2 cars wreck it is likely that the heavier stronger car will be damaged less severely, but the lighter more maneuverable car has a far better chance of avoiding an accident in the first place.

So you need to choose, within the useful reasonable limits of the performance range, which role you would feel more comfortable filling. Do you want to be the super-quick, quiet, agile, elusive, more "tiger" like combat soldier, or do you want to be the strong, durable, powerful, high endurance, more "bear" like combat soldier?

Whichever way you choose, you should maximize the abilities you are best suited for. If you go heavy you need to concentrate on strength and endurance. If you go light you need to concentrate of your speed and agility. Either way you will fill a useful role on your team, as all teams that function correctly should be GREATER than the sum of their parts. When you combine the strong person with the fast person. The team itself now has both strong AND fast. In that sense the team now has more than either member could have if they are alone.

The best team member will be the one that thinks of themselves as an element of a larger machine, contributing their strengths to augment whatever weakness exists. In this way a team of 5 men for instance can be far more effective than even as many as 20 or 25 men who cannot work effectively as a team, even more than that if you factor in things like the element of surprise, superior technology or intelligence, superior battlefield view or geographical position, superior supplies, and back up support systems, even the existence of a superior escape and abort plan can boost the confidence and subsequent performance of a team.

Anyway it isn't my place to train you in military tactics or strategy so I will stop here. I am certain that you will get more than adequate advice from your instructors in the Navy.

Good Luck.

Most people can do the physical stuff, it's the mental aspect of SEAL training where almost everyone fails out of.

Just be proportionate. You'll be doing that screening test alot. Every time you do it it has to be better than the last.

It's mostly about endurance when it comes to the Seals
You'd better be able to run a whole lot further than 1.5 miles
As far as your size that doesn't really matter other than you'll probably be called a smurf
