Injury Profile During AIT

My son is 19 and is on injury profile during his AIT training as a 25B. He received his injury during basic training but pushed through to get out of there to his AIT training. However, now he has been there several weeks and cannot get phased up from a IV to a V. He said other companies phase up their injured but his company Captain will not and actually phased down a couple individuals. Is this correct that he can do this? He said my son will not get phased up his entire time at AIT. He is a good soldier, good person and a good student so other than not being able to do the running I don't understand why they are punishing him with not phasing him up so he can wear civilian clothes and leave the base on the weekends. Any ideas of who he can speak to or how he can approach this to try and get phased up?

If your son is seriously injured and cannot perform the running event for his Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) then he will not complete AIT until he is well enough or able to complete the test. The Army invested a lot of money for your son to go through basic and now AIT they will make sure he graduate but in doing so they will also make sure he doesn't injure himself even more so they are allowing him to recover completely before pushing him through to the next phase. The Army is a very fast pace environment and fully recovering from an injury is important to be able to keep up with all the deployments. Your son and I am sure you as well are very frustrated with the whole process but let your son know that recovery is important the command would take care of them.
