Iraq war - failure?
|
With the war in Iraq spiralling out of control due to radicals. I sit time that we really looked at what we have done there and call it a failure.
We went there on the premis of WMD'S - 3 years late still none are found.
Although I beleive we should stay until the job is done and Iraq can be self governing but in my eyes its a massive failure.
There is no security - Electricity is only available for 6 hours a day - the health system is in dissaray
Is this really a case for democracy?

I agree that Iraq is now suffering these consequences but Saddam, like Hitler, Stalin and Mao was a ruthless dictator. He gassed thousands and this would have continued. What America needs to do now is rebuild, not continue to fight a fight that it cannot win. |

i dont know. i guess there was no point in the war either way.
why didnt the leaders just sit down and talk through thier problems with turning it into an agrument. a 5 year old can do it, even though they need a teachure or something. we should get some1 responcible and sit them between the leader and make them sort our thier problems liek 5 year olds! |

For anyone to say this war is a 'failure' is a direct slap in the face to our Gold Star Moms and Dads. How could you look at a Mother who stood beside her son/daughter as he/she proudly took the oath to defend their Country, knowing their lives would be on the line daily and tell her that her child's death was a failure?
NO Country wants to send its sons and daughters off to war. We all remember the feeling of utter despair as we watched our citizens die on 9/11. As the song goes, 'Have you forgotten?' War was declared when we were attacked on our own home turf. Let's not 'spit in the faces of our Fallen Angels' (much like we did to our returning Vietnam Heroes) by calling their sacrifices 'failures'.
Who has the answer? No one as an individual. Let's support our Soldiers and not dishonor any of their memories. |

Problem began when Saddam himself encouraged the idea that Iraq had WMD and was prepared to use them. For one reason or another, the intelligence communities supported this idea and war was declared to stabilise the region and get rid of the WMD's. In hindsight, we were misled and will never know if this was intentional or not. However, the problem of what to do after the removal of Saddam was never thought out. The troops cannot, at this moment and time, be withdrawn for fear of civil war and until the Iraqis themselves realise that the only way to remove the troops is to talk peace, the troops will remain. We have a moral obligation to stay and sort out the mess we created and whilst we are there the troops should receive our support |

After the fall of Iraq the war was over was not a failure.
With time something extra ordinary happened beyond the control of living human kind was exposed by those boys and girls serving out there.
They were at loss and blurr with what went wrong out there.
The blunders and slip-ups with human errors was created back in the past being expose with time in Afghanistan and Iraq.
What went wrong out there is vital for the survival and advancement of living human kind was lost with time being expose out there.
While living human kind were all at loss on what went wrong out there were for the good of mankind being expose with time on planet earth.
The mystery of what us-911 was all about in planet of apes.
The blunders and slip-ups with human errors created back in the past that must be solve by survivors with their children from after world war two on planet earth. |

Thats right Iraq was a complete failure and over 2,000 Americans and half a million Iraqis have died needlessly, this is because the American people are fundamentally dumb, easy to lie to and always ready for a war to protect freedom, whos freedom was America protecting this time?
The Iraqis - America still ocupies the country and why didn't they liberate them in Gulf War 1 anyway.
The Worlds - no weapons of mass destruction found, Saddams association with terrorists proved to be a lie, what kind of threat was Saddam to world freedom really?
So the war is a failure, the premise for going to war has been undermined and people still die in hundreds everyday in Iraq, but thank God America brought freedom |

Everyone talks about staying until the job is done, but what exactly is the job? I thought it was to get rid of WMD's, then it was to get rid of Saddam Hussein, now it is to bring democracy to the Middle East. Should they not have it forced on them, but find it their own way. It's like someone shoving a gun in your face and saying "be peaceful like me"!
Before everyone starts talking about Terrorism, even the US Military have said that this has only encouraged terrorism.
Still, we created Iraq and supported Saddam Hussein, so I suppose it can only be us that destroys it! |

So you who have never held a gun in your life npr faced an armed enemy are suddenly an expert on war and tactics .The political failures of the new Iraqi government are due entirely to Iranian sponsored death squads within the new regime ,the sunni population are trying to hang on to fading delusions of power and the troops are in the middle .You could pull us out tomorrow and by next week you would have mass murder on the scale not seen since Pol Pot inCambodia ,is this what you advocate ,If the allies surrender and go home whos next the hashamites in jordan ,then lebanon that solidifies that part then its Kuwait then Saudi when exactly are we supposed to stop this ,is it after the genocide of the Israeli nation or do we stop them now and save millions at the expense of thousands. |

for the failure..it is failure for both of the sides...for the iraqi PEOPLE themselves and for the u.s.a.....bush made this mean option for himself only cause as we all know that iraq is a pump of oil...for that and for distracting american people from the twin towers cause he seemed to find no other solution...it's the biggest loss that one ideot person had made it just to move the war against terrorism from america to iraq...it's two birds with one stone...i mean a bunch of birds with one stone...and the us solders represented the stone... |

Any one thinking the job will ever get done in Iraq is deluding themselves all that has been done is to get rid of one evil dictator who got power helped by the US to have the US install a government who are even more evil the death squads who are torturing and killing thousands of people about 100 a day are run by politicians they`re in the police force and Army not Insurgents ,
.the Iraqi government are not going to stop them its what they want a Shea state with alliances to Iran Well done George and Tony you have done a good job |

The whole premise of the 'coalition's' invasion of Iraq was, according to our leaders, to stop Saddam Hussein using his stockpiled 'weapons of mass distruction' we now know that this was a lie. So, the reason given now is to stop 'terrorism' from the muslim fundamentalists. We are all labouring under an understanding that this war can be won and I don't think it can, previous wars have been about national borders but what we are looking at here is to change an ideology of billions of people. Muslims, rightly or wrongly believe that the coalition is trying to change their way of life - that's why they are resisting. In terms of warfare, it's one thing defeating an army who have uniforms and are defending territory that you can see, quite another when you are fighting individuals who do not wear uniforms, who may never have been in trouble before etc.
The Iraq war was always going to be a failure, hundreds of thousands of innocent people have been killed by an invading force, they're a little peeved because they havn't done anything wrong! they're fighting back because they think it's unjust!
Let's turn the tables a little bit and think hypothetically? If Iraq was the most powerful nation on earth (militarily and financially) and they carpet bombed London for 2 weeks then invaded the Uk because an irish catholic terrorist (living in Ireland) had killed a couple of thousand Iraqi's in a terrorist attact. They were going house to house -kicking your door's in, removing hundreds of Catholics and shipping them off to a prison in the gulf with no charge, killing thousands of innocent peoiple etc ....how would you feel?
This is a war ceated by corrupt 'leaders' and will rumble on for decades, terrorism will never be stopped completely because you can't make everyone think the same way. |

Failure - depend on what your criteria are. If the criteria for success were to get two mandates for the current President - well, the war in Iraq was a massive success! |

It's a total mess - so depressing. We went in there and caused this havoc, so we can't just walk away and leave the country as it is. I just can't, however, see what the solution is to a peaceful settlement between the Shias and the Sunnis. I'm no politician, but even I could have predicted the outcome of those fateful days 3 years ago, and I'm sure there must have been thousands, if not millions, like me. The war was not justified, it was a failure and the Iraqi people are continuing to pay for our mistake with their lives and with their quality of life. OK, so Saddam has had a trial and received the death penalty; there's no doubt that he's an evil man, but what a huge price to pay for that one success. We took a sledgehammer to crack a nut, albeit a very hard nut! |

Learn the facts - the USA knew Iraq had WMDs. Because unfortunately, we gave them to Iraq when they were at war with Iran.
They're still buried somewhere. |
