Ironing trousers?

you need to get the seams at the bottom of the trousers to meet up and then follow the seam up the trouser and lay them flat on the ironing board. This will give you the perfect line for your creases front and back and then you can just tidy up the top.
Follow the crease of the trousers and start by doing the pockets.

so..

Turn the trousers inside-out and lay them flat, one leg on top of the other, with the seams aligned. Fold the top leg back and iron the bottom leg. Repeat on the other leg.

Do the outside of each leg in the same way. To set a new crease, use the steam boost.

To avoid getting the horrible shininess common in wool or dark fabrics, Mr Kelly advises using a damp cloth or tea towel to protect the trousers. But a good steam iron at the right temperature should avoid that problem.

Kevin, the best thing is to invest in a trouser press. I bought one for my beloved and he has never ironed trousers since. When we first married, he was in the RAF and used to put soap in the trouser creases. He rubbed the corner of the soap bar up the crease and let it dry out (No rinsing). After a few washes, it made a thick 'crease filler' because it never washed out completely and kept the creases perfectly crisp. I remember piggling it out the first (and only) time I tried to iron them. I thought I hadn't washed them properly/ He went ballistic 'You've ruined my trousers!', and did them himself after that!
So trouser press if you can afford it, soap if you can't.

This is the military method for razor sharp creases in your pressed trousers.

On your ironing board - lay out the pair of trousers to be ironed. Let one of the trouser legs hang over the back of the ironing board.

Take a clean piece of cloth, part of a sheet. Lay this along the crease, sprinkle with a little water and press down hard with an iron and slowly draw the iron along the carefully folded crease.

Repeat on both trouser legs back and front.

DO NOT USE A HOT IRON EVER, EVEN A STEAM IRON, DIRECTLY ON YOUR TROUSERS. ALWAYS COVER THE TROUSERS WITH A DAMP CLOTH.

If you still have problems, go to your dry cleaner and have the trousers dry cleaned and PRESSED.

if your having problems positioning your trousers then pin them to the ironing board, im in the army and do this when ironing my no.2's. if the problem is the sharpness of the crease then use starch, a spray can of starch last for months and costs very little.

Use a wet handkerchief to get those razor sharp creases. I was a soldier onceâ€¦. :-(

I have a friend who works in the wardrobe dept of a theatre and told me the trick to really sharp creases is to dip the end of a match in PVA (you can get it from any toy shop cheaply ELC is best) and run it down the inside of your trousers where you want the crease to be, then iron them with a damp cloth to prevent the fabric from getting shine patches and you'll have creases any bobby would be proud of!

pull the area really tight, when ure ironing over the pockets.
then u r garunteed not to get creases.

OR

failing that u can pay people to iron ure clothes.

Di it army fashion. lay the trews out, inside of leg uppermost,
pull them into shape, then using a wet handy, steam the
creases in. Turn over and repeat. lightly steam the top half if
neccesary. Good luck.

Cheat and get a tailor to sew the creases in the legs then the ironing bit is easy that's what i did when i was in the army

Bring the inside and the outside seams together...that way you'll have equal halves. The creases should be dead centered...

My b/f is an p/o and i put them into the local drycleaners Â£2.50 rather than wash/iron them, its easier and the material is too horrible to iron and the dry cleaners leave the crease in which i would probably iron over and ruin, xx good luck
