Is America equipped to fight a war against any other country in the world?

Militarily the US can defeat anyone, but sociopolitically the US is weak. One of the two political parties (Democrat) is entirely antiwar.

America is the only country in the world equipped to fight anybody. From conventional arms to nuclear arms, we can handle just about any threat. I do believe there are countries out there who would cause great casualties if the US were to engage in combat with them, but that is nothing new, it has been that way throughout history, and we have prevailed.

Yes, and the US could win a conventional war vs any other country(ies) if Americans felt they were in true peril. The problem is policing a country is much more difficult than a military win. We still have crime in the US simply because its impossible to control such a large population without huge expense and restricting freedoms. Luckily here in the US we don't have citizens with Ak-47's and RPG's.

the american military is by far the most powerful in the world...if u dont want 2 take my word for it, look it up on wikepedia, they have all the statistics for every country. the only ones that come close are china and iran. but we have a major advantage over every other country, and that is strategic location. america has military bases all over the world, no other country has bases in other countries like we do - so we have the biggest advantage for a world war because of out strategic locations. we also have the biggest and best air force - no one comes close.

Iraq is the first war or wars we ever got into that we were this prepared for. I feel we are at our zenith as far as strength as long as we don't start a war before we settle with Iraq and Iran.

Iran's leadership is not very stable and I hope the people behind the throne their get rid of that idiot that call himself their leader.
We could defeat Iran but it would be a great loss off lives on all sides.

Well let us suppose that China invaded Taiwan and North Korea invaded South Korea, while Iran attacked Israel. How many troops would be needed? Did not Germany try to fight on numerous fronts? Did not France try to do the same thing in 1793? She declared war on Austria, Prussia, Sardinia, Great Britain, and the United Netherlands. I think the United States has already bite off more than it can chew. Think for a moment. In theory, the South Vietnamese Army was the best trained army in the world in 1975, because America trained it. The United States clearly had air superiority over all of Indochina. Even with all of these military assets, the war was still lost. History repeats itself and is repeating itself now. America is doomed, because of President Bush.

The US has enough in its arsenal to blow up the world many times--11,500 nuclear warheads, ICBM's, a million military troops, greatest and most powerful navy and air force in the world. We also have the largest stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons. If we really pulled off the gloves and fought without "rules of engagement", we could easily defeat in nation in the world. We also have weapons systems that one can only imagine because of secrecy. The US came out with a weapon that will be activated very soon. When its lasers fire, victims will feel as though they have been subjected to intense burning. It is frightful to think what the US could do.

A very theoretical question. If you consider the strategic alliances that exist or will form if the USA would attack or be attacked by a country X, it is difficult to imagine a war without any form of alliance building. I think at present the US-Military can win a fight against any opponent on a strict one-on-one base.
But winning a fight is different from winning a war.
And as for nuclear-weapons, if nuclear deterrence really works then fighting a war against nuclear equipped ennemies with a global reach (ICBM) should not be considered.

yeah we can fight in a traditional type war, but we get our asses handed to us in the type of wars we are fighting now, because its not about the tech, but who wants it more. just look at Vietnam, they didn't have much tech, but they fuxed us up

I agree with Aztec, the anti-war Democrats are the only weak spot we have. Other than that, yes America is equipped to fight a war against any country in the world and win.

In a war that is coming we will not be ready,we will not even know that a ruthless enemy has attacked us,until the end is near,history will be written and old names removed.A nation long in decline deserves to be removed for being foolish ,in the time of the harvest they sat on their butts.
