Is George W. Bush a pretty good Commander in Chief?

Yes and no. Like all people in politics, he has issues. Being the Commander in Chief also means that he gets blamed for anything that goes wrong. People either don't know or understand how our government works. They think the President just goes out there and says we will or will not do something. They fail to blame Congress for their part in it. Nothing happens without Congress approving it or having parties bicker over if their side is right or not. I say the whole political system is to blame for our problems and the people who party vote. When we elect someone for what they stand for and not their party, we'll make headway. Then we need to tell Congress they work for us and not themselves.

So yes, he's a good Commander in Chief. He's not the best by any means. He's also not the worst.

Actually he is an excellent Commander in Chief. He even knows how to salute. It used to piss me off every time I saw Clinton attempt to salute. There was certainly no love between the military and that man.

He's a decent Commander in Chief. He knows his role and he plays it well.
Unfortunately, Rumsfeld is a terrible Secretary of Defense, and if Bush got rid of him there would probably be less backlash.

Am I the only one that remembers that Bush said we are going over there to weaken terrorism in the Middle East so as to immobilize it where it originates to weaken the chance of them being able to strike the U.S like they did on 9/11?

Am I the only one that realizes that we havenâ€™t been attacked since 9/11?

Every time Al-Qaeda claims an attack in Iraq they validate what Bush said "We have to crush the terrorists where they originate, so as to make American citizens safer."

And its not we shouldnâ€™t be messing with them, its they shouldnâ€™t have messed with us!!!!!!!!!!!!
And remember, itâ€™s our soldiers putting theyâ€™re lives on the line everyday that you even have the right to whine about the war. Why donâ€™t you thank Bush for another day that this war has brought you a step closer to long term safety and stability. Ensuring that you can go to Starbucks during your brunch everyday and whine about it for years and years to come without being interrupted by suicide bombers that claim to be peaceful right before press a button on there suicide vest.
My wife was a contractor in Iraq last year. She told me stories that would warm your heart. A woman that cried while thanking our soldiers because her child was finally able to go to school because of them. Why doesnâ€™t the media portray good things so as to balance the bad things that happen as well? I am ashamed of our American media. Donâ€™t pretend things are all rosy but donâ€™t pretend like its 100% **** either. Itâ€™s called balance. A balanced media.Thats what I want. A balanced media approach. Not a biased media.

Before I answer this question,I would like to drift away little bit,
to comment on Mr. "Isaac" who gave us an "illuminating" answer for the above mentioned question.
You talk about "balanced media",and that the core of terrorism is simply : the Middle-East !!
well my friend,I,am real glad that you are not into politics,
otherwise the world's jeopardy would have been twice as much !!
Obviously,you were not fully "balanced" with the media you have been listening to,for you would have known that,Israel is the head of terrorism in the world,and our country - the great U.S.A - is the back - bone of it. when a situation like this occurs,naturally you will have some organizations like : Al - Qaeda, or Hamas...etc refusing the butchary of Israel,so what they decide to do ? They take it on us,in every way they can ; 9/11 or strapping bombs around themselves....etc !!!
Moral of the story is : when we are ready to go half way for a fair play,they will come along too,otherwise,don't let this American image fool you,for one day we will pay the price dearly !!!
As for Mr. Bush,I think he was doing a good job until this Lebanese war started,but now ???!!!! I don't know !!
