Worth what, what a waste of lives and money. Money that can improve our own lives. No more nation building. |

Yes, if we were in the situation they were in wouldn't you want someone to help us? They are getting their freedom and for freedom there is a price.
Oh if the war just stops right now as we speak we will end up over there again starting all over again. We don't need to stop it until it's done. I don't like the war any more then anyone else, I hate being with out my husband and I hate the fact that we are losing people over there but in the end it is needed. |

Before the war there was an equilibrium in the Middle East between Iraq and Iran. Now Iraq is over and Iran is the local super power. Was it worth it? |

I say NO.
All the money that was spent on that war could have been spent on turing all our power needs to green energy, and totally self sufficient.
We have Fcuked up big time in Iraq, but certain people would have got rich from that war, probally the same people that fund pollitics in the west !! It has'nt achieved as much good as it has bad, so no it wasn't worth it for the good of the majority, but was good for some peoples power and pockets. |

Yes and No.
Yes Saddam was a evil man who had shown no respect for anyone other than himself, he committed acts of genocide against the the Kurds in the north and persecuted anyone who didn't follow his line. The worlds a better place without him. WMD's I couldn't care less the man was scum.
No. We should have got the job done by now, it's costing too many lives. There should have been a clear exit strategy in place. I can't understand how it's dragged on for so long. Yes there are insurgents but surely with the number of forces in Iraq and whats at their disposal we should be getting more results, they're still able to mortar bomb our bases reguarly. The majority of the people seemingly backing the overthrow of Saddam the job should be easier than it is. The iraqi people need to take more of a stand.
Was it worth it yes. Is it worth it no. If you see what I mean? |

No it was never worth it! They are ungrateful savages and only the Draconian rule of someone like saddam could keep them in check! A war built on lies and the need to find and steal oil |

I think it has. Saddam is gone. Left wing people need to shut up, as they are only making it worse.
Of course Iran, North Korea, Saudi Arabia and Syria also need to be taught a lesson. |

well, saddam was a cruel dictator who was mustard gassing his own people. sure, they had nothing to do with 9/11, but i feel that getting a genocidal fascist out of there and making the iraqi peoples' lives much better (even through the war it's better than under saddam) is worth it. |

Yes it WAS....but we are prolonging it when we really don't need to anymore, we have done all we could do and now its time to start pulling troops out. |

Very debateable, I agree. The news reports this week stated that the Iraqi people are just seeing a better lifestyle on the horizon, and yes I would like to believe that. The world needs to grow up and sometimes another nation's influence can help. But this shouldn't be a war, just a means to stabilise peoples' lives. Good or bad, the best has to be made of a seemingly impossible situation, and if that corner can just be turned and people allowed to live in peace and harmony, then, yes, it has to be worth it. Doing nothing but post-mortems on the situation will not help. |

The war in Iraq is a terrible waste, and people who can't admit to that are in some deep denial. |

Only if your name is George W. Bush or Tony Blair and still believe in the myth of all those WMDs out there somewhere! Maybe Tony wouldn't think it such a good idea if Ewan (his son) was due to go out there and risk getting killed for a few gallons of crude oil! |

not even maybe.. G W Bush and his fabricated WMD'S, and mystical threats and then his starting of an illegal war has destabilised the middle east and the global economy.
so in effect he has destabilized the world for his personal agenda . he is a criminal and he like the power of life and death. this proved by his attempts to speed up the seudo trial process/tribunal for gitmo so he can execute the prisoners there that can prove his lies the sentence's and verdicts for all these people are already decided. death..
what i would do on his grave is not speakable
no offence intended . as a veteran of several combats i see no honour in this one |
