Is U.S Navy Damage Controlman a good job overall?

I recently joined the navy as a damage controlman but dont ship out until July. Is this a good job to have in the military?? I would like to become a firefighter when i get out.

Ur lucky bro i wanted to join as DC but they said it was full so they gave me O.S. operation specialist. i want to become a fireman to when i get out =D hey what day in july i leave for bootcamp july 27 =D but ya i heard its a good job.

I was in the navy for 6 years on the USS Barry as an IC. As a dc you will be responsible of all damage control. I.E. Fire fighting, flood, and more. It is a good rate to be in, but like any other rate you have to learn you job and study to advance rate in the Navy. Also you will learn how to combat any type of fire and will be probaly on a hose team. enjoy the navy and the experinces.
