Is WWIII a Possibility?

Basically yes it is a possibility especially considering the world that we currently live in. In my mind the threat facing the usa will be nucear weapons from either Iran, China or Russia. However, we pump 500 billion dollars a year into military spending and we have missile defence shields too. I really don't think there will be a world war three before the war on terror ends.

I hope your not as naive as this question. Just because a country doesn't admit to, or have nuclear weapons, that doesn't mean THEIR allies don't. Besides, you don't need nuclear weapons, there are chemical ones, terrorists, embargo's, cyber crimes, etc. There is more than one way to take out a country. I also don't think it's that far off. Any time in history, after a depression, a war has happened. Now we're on a global scale depression or ressession, you bet there is already plans in the works.

This is how it will happen.

Its the year 2013, Israel has just attacked Iran to stop them from developing Nukes. Iran's allies who have nukes step in and nuke Israel, Israels allies step in and nuke Iran and its allies. We are one of Israels allies, and if WWIII does occur, we'll be a part of it. WWIII has begun.

Actually I started writing a book 3 years ago about WW3 involving China and Russia, with Germany as an ally of ours haha. I really don't know how it will be started, but I'm sure we will see it at some point in time. Man has been warring from the beginning of our existence, so I'm sure it will be here within the next 100 years or so. But, for our sake, I shall pray that it doesn't happen in our lifetime. :P
I don't know how it will be started, but with all of the technology today, it will most likely be fought with cybernetics, nuclear weapons, or something similar to those next-generation technologies.

A third world war wouldn't have to be with atomic or nuclear bombs. It's definitely a possibility... Let's hope it doesn't ever happen.

WWIII is a possibility, but most likely will not happen. Israel and Iran might attack each other. Pakistan and India might attack each other. Countries can make ties, bang, 4 nation war. America will back Israel, causing more Middle East Islamic countries to side against America. Therefore, creating war. Not WWIII because no other nuclear super power is involved. BUT!!! If it is true and Iran has the technology to Nuke Israel, I think WWIII will take place. But everyone will be against Iran for the nuclear devastation.

There's always a possibility for anything.

Keep in mind all the countries that are strong enough to pose a threat such as the ones in WW1 and WW2 all have nuclear capabilities.

Well after WWII, and all the way up to(and maybe past) 1989 everyone was afraid to fire an aimed shot, fearing it could start WWIII. It's a possibility, but it's HIGHLY unlikely.

umm well our nukes are better. We have weapons that can destroy nukes while in the air and yeah i would have to say no one will mess with any of those countries. Except the U.S. since we are like the worlds police force.

Nuclear weapons are a deterrent, but not a guarantee. World War III could absolutely happen - it would start in satellite countries and gradually pull in more and more nations on each side until the entire world seemed to be involved.

Some things that have prevented this scenario from happening include the nuclear deterrent (I'm sure that kept the Korean conflict from escalating, for instance), the UN (which has played a much larger role in keeping the peace than most people realize), and the growing global economy. It's that last one that's most interesting - why would we fight one another when our shared economies are accomplishing more than any war could for a lot less?
