It depends on the Job you are applying for and who the employer is. It very well could matter, as it very well should. |

Will never get any employment that
requires a Background/Security check...
Or with any Military supplier...
Why would you Think that any Discharge
other than strickly "Honorable" would not
effect you...????
The worst is yet to come...
You will be beating yourself up for life !!!!
It also shows that you cannot Complete anything !!!! |

it can, esp in areas where the manner i=of discharged is looked at closely, such as working for the govt. but some private employers dont care. |

Yes, it can affect it, depending on the employer. Some won't care at all but for others, it would disqualify you.
I have to correct the person above me. I am an investigator and do background screenings on applicants for many different companies every day. Every company has their own qualifications and specifications. And the records are NOT sealed, as I verify military service every single day for large corporations. Of course, if service is not provided on the application, we cannot include it in our investigation. |

Most good companies are doing background checks, so yes it is something to be concerned about. |

most employers want a honorable
dishcarged individual. if the person
who is looking over your application is
ex-military, believe me, they will ask. |

A general discharge (honorable) can be overturned with a simple letter of request. You have 90 days after your ETS to submit the letter. And you'll recieve it about months after your ETS.
About 75% of all requests are accepted.
So to answer your queston, NO. In no way, shape or form will that effect the decision making process of your potential employer as long as you get it turned into an honorable. |

Nope.
Military records do not show up on corporate background checks.
Military records are sealed.
Only if you need a security clearance would they show up on the clearance investigation.
Of course, if you use your military experience on your resume, they then have the right to ask for your DD-214 and type of discharge.
But ive never had any employer ask for my DD-214.
But if you don't tell them you were in the military, then a civilian employer has no way to find out, you were ever in the military. |

NO it does not because after 6 months you can request it to become honorable through the court house some states its a year so there you go and everyone i knew that done it got it approved. Plus its still an honorable discharge |
