Is a soldier who kills enemy`s with hate in his heart no better than a murderer?

In my opinion such a person is a war criminal, not a soldier anymore. Additional Details Max: I know what i am talking about, why dont you just shut your mouth peanutbrains

Go back in your starbucks and finish your latte, treehugger.... leave the national defense issues to those who are trained.
The world isn't as shiny and happy a place as you like to think it is. Sometimes good people have to do horrible things to protect those who can't (or WON'T) stand up for themselves. |

Dont judge people unless u r in there position, soldiers are trained to kill and when faced with people that r trying to kill them of course they will have hate. If someone wanted to kill you wouldnt you hate. |

I would think that a soldier was completely psycho to kill with love in his heart. That would rather like a serial killer. If a soldier is just killing for the thrill of killing than he is a murderer. An example would be if a soldier randomly shoots at civilians or decides to execute a prisoner of war. |

Yay. The morons abound after school gets out.
If someone's trying to kill you, you kill them. That easy. How you feel about it makes absolutely no difference. And I agree with Max. You have no clue what you're talking about. |

In order to truly have hate in ones heart, you would have to know the enemy on a personal level which probably hasn't happened since the civil war for americans. My father killed many men in Viet nam and he hated every one of them as well as every other enemy out there, afterall, who else should you hate more than someone that's trying to kill you and yours? |

He's only a murderer if he kills someone innocent.
I think if someone was trying to kill me, I'd have hate in my heart while trying to kill him first...you wouldn't?
edit. So, most everyone disagrees with you...so that makes everyone else brainwashed and you're the only one left that isn't? Riiiight. |

A soldier's job is to do what they are told to do by their commander. If they are told to kill, they really don't have a choice. This is what they are trained to do.
In addition, I don't think that many men sign up for the military for the "thrill of the kill". Most soldiers do not ENJOY killing. In fact, this is why many have trouble re-adjusting to regular life after being in combat. They have to live with killing other men and women who had families and loved ones. Whether or not they are the "enemy" is somewhat irrelevant when you realize that the "enemy" is a person too with a wife and children waiting for them at home.
But I just want to add that how would you ever measure who killed "with hate in their heart" and punish them as a "war criminal" as you ask? That would be absolutely impossible.
EDIT: First of all, I'm not American, I am Canadian. And secondly, how are any of us brainwashed by government propaganda for giving our answers? Most of the men who answered you have been in combat situations and are answering from first hand experience. On top of that, your question is ridiculous. How could anyone be tried as war criminals unless you invent some type of contraption that measures the amount of "hate in one's heart" when they kill an enemy soldier? Absolutely ridiculous question with no valid point to make. |

I love professional gold digger's answer. She has a name like that and expects someone to take her seriously. She has no clue as to how she got the freedom to even post on the internet. It took soldiers lives to give you the freedom to do this.
A soldier fights for values not that he holds dearly, but what those above him holds dearly. He fights because he holds his country higher than their life.
What the person above said was true, you have never been in combat. Its abvious by your question. Its not so black and white, there is nothing you can understand.
Why should it be murder just because you hate someone? If someone breaks into my house I will hate them, and I will kill them. In Iraq, the people who meant to do me, my battles, or innocent civilians harm ON PURPOSE I would hate.
Your opinion doesnt matter oh powerful question asker who can thumbs down my answer. Most civilians have no knowledge nor right to talk down to soldiers, especially to say they are murders. Just think of it this way, you will NEVER experience anything close to what even the average soldier has experienced. |

You seem to have all the answers about service-members.

If you had a clue, you would understand it is natural human nature to avoid killing regardless of hate or another emotion. The facts are most soldiers would rather not kill but will kill rather than be killed. War is not like being in your backyard and killing your neighbor merely because he or she is of a different race or believes in a manner different than yours. If you also did your research you would realize there are individuals being charged with war crimes because they killed someone by shooting them in the back or other determining factors that would make it murder rather than a war killing. |

I certainly won't like anyone shooting at me. That enemy is going to try to kill you. You have make a determination if the guy is a threat (ie: has a weapon and is not on you side) and go with it. I never take a life causally no matter how pissed off I am. You don't kill out of hate, you kill so that guy won't kill you or your buddies. If I had killed out of hatred, my *** would be in jail or in the brig. A war criminal is a person who in times of war committed crimes like torturing/killing captured enemy personnel or civilians, purposely targeting civilians, or shooting enemy combatants who laid down their arms and surrendered. In the case of committing war crimes, some people let their emotions get a hold of them which is bad.
In the civilian world if I was armed and some guy pointed a gun at me or attacks me with a blunt object or knife, I will be able to kill that guy to defend myself. If the armed guy ran at me and turned in a different direction then I cannot use force on him. There is a difference between killing and murder. Justified killing can be justified under the rules of law and moral context (ie: self defense), murder is taking someone's life unlawfully and is never justified. Educate yourself on the difference between justified killing, and murder- there is a LEGAL difference. |

but it ok if the soldier gets killed off the other person but every person has there own opinion |
|

it depends from what perspective you are looking at
i.e. the soldier may hate the country he is fighting against
he might be a "war murderer" too
i think it all has to do with perspectives |

Depends how the hate came there. |

if you look at the christian way of life (which i do not follow) technically a soldier who kills enemies period is no better than a murderer. i mean remember thou shall not kill? and if you do so with hate in your heart well... you arent exactly a good person for hating someone you know nothing about are you? so no a soldier who kills enemies with hate in his heart is no better than a muderer
edit: and i know that i am not a soldier. but the fact that they are trained to kill and to hate when we may have started the war, or hating a majority that didnt hate us until we interfered is wrong. my father killed women while i lived with him. he aimed guns at me and shot at me any time he felt like it. i still wouldnt kill him, i would die before i killed anything that wasnt for survival (ex an animal to eat if i am starving) so all the people i know that are all gun ho about killing people need to be shot and the world needs to learn to get a long.
further edit: i am not a practicing christian now. i used to be. if god created man, he wanted us all to get along, why do we need to fight and kill each other? and the most common cause of war is... RELIGION. so god said if you don't worship me, you worship buddah or you decide to be muslim my AMERICAN CHILDREN (who btw did not exist when god created man) need to go blow you up? that is bull ****. god would not say go and kill each other to "protect" yourselves from a mythical threat. |
