recruiters say you are most likely to get the job you want if you enlist early, is that just a scam to get you tied in? or no

As far as job placement is concerned it doesn't matter if your 17 or 42. It's just a scam to get you to sign the paperwork and the recruiter to get his numbers for the month. What they might be saying is the earlier you enlist the earlier you can ship out, some MOSs have a waiting list to ship out and may cause you to have to wait like six months to ship. |

That is not true. They are just trying to meet there enlistment quota. A job is available as long as you have the ASVAB scores for it. You don't get anything extra if you enlist at 17. You don't get a better job. Nothing. Everything reflects off of your ASVAB scores. So I suggest you take your ASVAB and see how you score, she what jobs you qualify for and make that decision on your own. |

If I were you I wouldn't enlist but rather go the ROTC route... No scams, get full college experience, pay is about 2 1/2 times better than if you enlist, and benefits are far greater. You still get to do all the fun stuff that the enlisted guys do (except for maybe busy-work) just with a higher rank and more respect. |
