Is it possible to be in the army reserve and a regular firefighter?

I wanted a job in the army for 20 years because that's the life i want. But the only one that sounded like me was being a firefighter. BUT the army doesn't have them anymore. is there any other branch in the military that has firefighters that ARENT private contractors? And if i am a firefighter as a civilian but also in the army reserve can i retire from the reserve after 20 years and take the money i saved yet still keep my retirement? and also if i am on active duty will it be ok with them if i leave? OH and what jobs in the reserve are like firefighting? whats an alternative job that i can take that is similar?
