Hardly. There have always been efforts for peace in the M.E., but there is always a radical group trying to prevent peace from happening.

The Radicals & pres of Iran brought this to a whole new level when they openly announced their goal to destroy Israel & USA and basically all non-Muslim peoples. Why the UN is standing back and not taking their threats serious and uniting aginst them is beyond me and will only lead to further chaos.

lasting peace isn't possible because there are still land disputes to go along with the religious hatred. The power balance just needs to be maintained in the region. That is our goal. We'll continue to be involved as long as we need the oil, and that's just the way it is.

The Bible instructs us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. God knew that chosing the Israelite people as His chosen ones would cause them all kinds of problems. The Bible also says that yes, there will be 3 1/2 years of peace for Israel brought about by the Anti-Christ. After this 3 1/2 years, it will be 3 1/2 years of horror. After the 7 years, Christ will usher in a thousand years of peace, where the lion will lay down with the lamb, and there will be no war.

NOOOPPEE. With religion and racial disputes involved, there is a very low expectancy of peace in ANY argument. These animals will fight about who owns the sand blowing in the air!!
It is my opinion that conflict continues for so long because of 'diplomacy'. The biggest impediment to military success, especially for the great country of America, is the double barreled-nonsense that war is never necessary, and that when we DO find ourselves in war, we must fight with exaggerated restraint. Much like Vietnam and the current Iraq conflict. Who would guess the strongest, most efficient killing machine today, (the U.S. military), would be bogged down by groups with no education higher than the 4th grade???!!!! It's the John Kerry's, Hillary Clinton's and Pelosi's who make this conflict bloodier than it has to.

As long as there are people that are so fanatical, there are issues with peace.

I suppse that 20 years ago, it seemed impossible to get the English/N.Irish issues solved. They are not yet resolved, but peace is surely there...so it is possible anywhere. It will take decades.

To be honest, I don't think there will EVER be peace between the Middle East and the US. However, it didn't stop my mom and dad from hooking up. I don't know how they did it, but he's a Muslim, she's Catholic. I also don't think there will be peace because that's like saying the world is perfect. It's not. And I don't think it'll ever be.

YES Peace is possible in the Middle East and there should be some kind of conflict management and some kind of program set up to get these people out of the 7th century and into the 21st century and lots of education

It seems those people have been fighting since Biblical times, and I can't see how that's to change all of a sudden. I would like to see that no longer be our problem, while we expend our efforts on our own citizens, ranther than on those half a world away.

Anything is possible. Though, unfortunately, there may never be world peace. Not even when the world ends. But like I said, anything is possible. We should try to achieve world peace as best we can. It's a good goal for the world to work towards but it can't be achieved without full cooperation from all the countries. So it could take a while.
