i seleceted this as my job when i enlisted into the airfoce iwould like to know if this job is safe? espacially in these times of war, i understand this job is very serious and plays a big role

Compared to Infantry in the Army or nearly any Marine MOS, this job is very safe. AF Security Forces is more like a MP, I heard the majority of time you will just go on patrols mostly around the AF bases. |

i had security forces when i was in the air force and alot of people including myself hated it more than anything. not because it was dangerous, even though when you get deployed there is a chance you will be out doing convoys or walking the perimeter. security forces is a boring job with long hours, 12-15 hour days. the training for it is fun but once you get operational the fun dies down quickly. oh and when your in tech school be prepared to get in trouble for somethin that has nothing to do with you or your team trust me its gonna happen. good luck i hope your experience differs from most. |

Any job in the military may put you somewhere where it is dangerous, but some jobs are more dangerous than others. As a medic I was close to the bombing in Saudi Arabia in 96 that killed 19 and injured more than 400.
Security jobs are among the most dangerous jobs in the air force, and you can end up serving with the other branches, help support missions. The good thing is its a team effort, and you won't be by yourself. You will learn a lot about weapons, and that includes taking them apart and cleaning them. Even as a medic I had to do that occasionaly. Good luck. |
