i think we only have about eight of them left (not including the two at Pearl). seems like they've run their course. military operations have changed a lot. other much more efficient ways to do the job, these days. |

Military aircraft and air to surface missiles have developed to the point where the battleship was nothing but a big floating target. A modern destroyer, smaller, faster, and cheaper to build, has as much, if not more, firepower capability than a battleship. |
