I used to build a part for the JSF. I wonder if my friends who still work there are going to be laid off.
Additional Details
I done some research but i'm still unclear at what the difference is. It looks like the same plane.

The F-22 is a twin engine, Mach 2+ stealth air superiority fighter that was to be the ultimate replacement for our 35 year old F-15s. It is the samarai sword of the fighter world. The F-35 JSF is a single-engined, somewhat stealthy, VTOL capable fighter/bomber replacement for the F-16, F-18, and AV-8 Harrier. It is more of a swiss army knife fighter...good at everything, but not great at any one thing. F-22 production has been propsed to stop with 187 aircraft. F-35 production is supposed to be bumped up to 2440 or so. Our allies will also be purchasing the F-35. |

dont think so the main JSF is the F35 we share that with most countries in NATO the F22 is not cancelled the program is just down sizing |

Well lets see. The F-22 has two engines and the F-35 has one. Yeah, that would be the same plane wouldn't it?

The fact that the JSF is a single engine and the F-22 is a dual should be your first clue. |

Yes, the F-22 program is possibly being downsized....but the plane costs 140 million per plane to make...and it can't be used in the mountains of Afghanistan. Instead, Lockheed Martin can put those people to work building other, more useful, more cost efficient planes.....not to mention the many other uses for that money for our troops in Afghanistan. |

The F-25 is more advanced technologically.
Parts for the F-22 come from about 15 different places in the US. I'm not sure, but I believe some will be retooled for the F-25. |
