From my understanding the Marines are more likely to be in in the firing line and closer to the action.
My husband is a PO in the Navy |

The Marines. They do two totally different jobs. The Navy does not demand the same training or discipline. |

The marines require more physical effort than the Navy. The self confidence that a marine gains through the training is not matched by the other services. Marines are brainwashed to prepare them for the hardships they may face. Other services provide some self confidence training but the marines get the job done better. |

Marines are, just because of their tradition. But also the nature of what they do. Which involves one of the most dangerous and physical things a warrior does which is beach landings. Amphibious landings are both deadly from drowning and the heavy tanks and equipment that are in close proximately to the solider. So training is harder because a solider needs to be fit to handle the mental part of being aware of the surroundings. Or get run over by a ten tone piece of equipment. |

The Marines are harder. They crawl through the mud, climb the hills, and sometimes go days without food or water in a battle, which may include hand to hand combat. The
sailors get to ride on a ship, where there are three meals a day. The only thing they worry about is guard duty, perhaps having to stand in the wind or the rain!
The Air Force has it the easiest of all. |

The Marines, they are more on the front lines doing all the hand to hand fighting whereas the Navy is in more of a support role providing transport via ships for the Marines. Marines basic training (boot camp) is about twice as long (11 weeks) and much harder than the Navy basic. |

I would say they are equally hard but for different reasons. All depends on what you want to do. Marines are more likely to see up close combat on land. Navy is more likely to see combat on the open sea or in the air. |

If we are talking only about Boot Camp, I would say the MARINES is more difficult, NAVY is not easy either, but it is less demanding in some ways. Marine Boot Camp is 12 weeks, Navy is 10 weeks.
Active Duty, it depends on what your job (Rate or MOS) is. Admin, typically not so difficult. Grunt...difficult. Navy, depends on your Rate and Duty Station. |

Marine lifestyle can be more physically demanding than that of the Navy. Each branch has it's hard points and it all depends on your MOS (job) in each. As Marine Infantry..you better be a machine if you expect to survive especially in combat where as an admin MOS say on a ship or in th "rear with the gear" might not be as demanding. Marine Corps boot camp is one big mind game and can be torturous at times, and the Navy boot camp is marginally easier. |

my fiance did 13 years navy and at one point was stationed with the marines. He was a corpsman. He said he loved bein in the navy but loved bein stationed with the marines too. The marines are actualy a dept. of the Navy. Depending on what you want to do should depend on what you want to join. Although you can join the navy and work with the marines. |

I hear the navy seals take the new ones out in the ocean and let them drown then bring them back to life, other than that, I cant say if they are the hardest but, sounds pretty damn hard! |

Marines are tough in general, but the Navy Seals(not the whole Navy) go through hell and is very hard. |

well like i said in the other question the marines are hardcore and just becoming a grunt is tougher then most navy jobs
yet this is imposible to say it all depend on the job or position within that branch
Navy SEALS are probely the hardest of in boot camp |
