UK is the parent and Canada is the gay little brother. |

There's plenty of Canadians getting killed in Afganistan because we wanted to help fight terror.Canadian soldiers are fearless and we have proven that since WW1. Our only problem is our past government cut our military so bad after the fall of the Russia we're almost to the point of pathetic. Thankfully our new leaders are going to start spending money. |

Don't forget Australia, which unlike Canada or the UK (aside from individual Canadians) also sent troops into Vietnam. But defining a country's 'best friend' is difficult. Canada punched way above its weight in WW2 and is helping in Afghanistan even though its last government starved the military of funds. Sometimes a good friend tells you when you're making a mistake, and Britain did not do that over Iraq. |

I would prefer to call them Allied Friends along with all the rest of the countrys who side with us, each doing it's best rather then just being a best friend. As a lifer, I served along side many allies and found them all to be a good friend. |

Does that mean we can bring our Aussies troops home if you don't need them good I am getting a bit sick of people not appreciating the fact that we have been behind you in every war including Vietnam we might be a small nation but we always do our bit. Ours boys are fighting George Bush's war and we didn't want them to go but we support all those young people fighting maybe some of you should remember that. |

You are right although there is no tie between our countries that would make us permanent allies. In America, an attack on Great Britain, Canada, or Australia would be perceived by the American public as an attack on 'one of ours'.
Our government could fail to act, but members of the public would probably step in to lend help anyway. It might only be a bias due to our shared language. |

Now I may be a Liberal. However you’re certainly right on that. Britain has become a great ally of the US. How well have they done out on the battlefield with you? |

Not sure. |

Absolutely it is Canada hands down--Canada and the US are the closes allies in the world and I would say an attack on either country is percieved as an attack on themselves. That was clearly seen in 911 Canada absolutely perceived the attack as onto themselves and were quick to support the Americans |
