Yes and no depends on your mos and what you like to to.
Look at all branches before you decide. |

It's a reliable job, you do your twenty years you get out and you never have to work again. You don't have to worry about housing, medical, or even having food on the table. You will be in good physical shape due to mandatory physical training. You will get a chance to travel, especially if you put it in your contract that you will be stationed overseas. You will learn a trade unless you take an infantry type MOS, but even then you will learn some skills along the way. You will have periods where you will pay zero taxes when you are deployed.
The bad news is that you will be deployed for a year or more at a time away from friends and family. You will be forced to go wherever the army sends you and take any assignment that the army gives you. You will occasionally have to deal with some complete bullcrap that comes from the highest level like in most jobs out there.
Honestly, I can't answer the question of whether the army is a good job or not because I've heard so many answers to this question, I think it depends mostly on what is important to you honestly and what job and unit you end up being assigned to. |

It is a good job, if you want to call it that. My husband did 6 years and if it wasn't for not being able to spend allot of time with his daughter he would have stayed in. It teaches you allot of responsibility and helps after you get out my husband went to training for aviation mechanic and made close to 3,000 a month. It depends on what you do and what rank as to how much money you will make. My husband now has a career making really good money thanks to the army. Hope that helps |

Only if you are prepared to face the Taliban in Iraq and Afghanistan for a living. I wouldn't have done it in my youth, however I have the utmost respect and admiration for all the troops who are out there. |

The Army isn't bad at all. You get a guaranteed paycheck every two weeks, they square you away with your medical, dental, life insurance and if you are married you will receive extra money to pay for your housing and food. Also, when you will see a positive change in yourself for the better, morally and ethically. It is an easy job no matter what job you have, because you will have the training you receive in the beginning, then you will have your battle buddies around you to help you out if you need it when you get to your duty station.
To succeed in the Army all you have to do is, be at the right place, at the right time, in the right uniform, with the right attitude and just do what you are told. A lot of people on here will tell you its not a good job and they never did it or they had a bad experience. the only way you will know for sure is to sign up for a tour and see if you like it. If you dont, then get out and use the experience you got while in to benefit you for the rest of your future. Plus, if you get out honorably, you will still get your GI Bill to use for college and to get a degree to help you even furthur. With the economy the way it is, it should be a no brainer, because you know you aren't gonna lose your job, because being a soldier is job security. |

Depends what branch you want to join. If you want a guaranteed wage at the end of every month, then yes it is.
There are somewhere in the region of 200 different jobs you can do in the Army, so you'll need to be a little more specific. |

For the danger involved? Naw.
But it is noble to serve your country and of course you get paid. Very little - nevertheless you get paid.
Look at the positive - if you serve then you qualify to get loans at low rate for further education. Serve long term? You qualify for pension. Of course during that long term, you would have gotton several promotions and you probably would be in a decent salary.
So, yes, it is and it isn't a good job. |

Doesn't pay well. Limited opportunities for promotion unless you have a college education, in which case you can get a better job anyway. Prevents you from living any kind of settled life. And best of all, trains you to do things that are very nearly useless once you depart the army, leaving you no better off than when you started. |
