Is the initial deployment as a Navy Intel Officer of 30 months all spent away from family?

I guess I'm asking if I would have to spend 2 1/2 years away from my wife should I choose this career path?

It states on the Navy website that the initial operational deployment for Intel Officers is 30 months. I'd like to know if that is all at sea with some port stops in between or is it 6 months at a time while spending 6-12 months at home?

A "deployment" to an unaccompanied assignment for 30 months doesn't ring true. Usually an unaccompanied tour is 12-24 months. Where the heck are they sending you?

I think you may be assigned shipboard for 30 months, which usually means the ship is cruising 6 months out of 12 for that time. Subs may be different tho...
