Is the marines for me, will i survive bootcamp?

rihgt now i go to school, but I hate it. I'm aengineering major i love math and physics classes but its also required to take other classes like english and stuff so all the paper writing made me hate school, hard to write a 10page paper whe your hung over over the weekend, and i just hate english classes, i opnly work wiht numbers. but any ways its boring for me and i need something exciting and i need 0 credits to graduate but i only have 24 rihgt now a report cardfull of C's except for math.

Any ways my mom and dadpay for school so if i just drop out and get a dead end job its just a waste of time and they will be wicked pissed. i don't have a job now and my mom and dad pay for everything, school, car, insurance appartment ect.. so i thought about joinign the marines i'm 20 now and physically in ok shape i guess coz i palyed hockey and football in highshcool, and since i graduate i did boxing but i quite 6mo's ago but i sitll do run 2 hours of cardio every day 1 hour of running run and spinning(cycling ) for another hour and i do weights 3 days a week.

so will i be able to pass bootcamp? and howmuch do a marin make a year?

The first two weeks will be the hardest and it is a lot mental. the pay grade is like 1295 during boot camp and then 1400 ish when you go to pay grade E2 that is monthly. For more info go to http://www.marines.com/ they even have a video for every week of training for the marines (12 videos) that you can watch. As for the pay grade it was at http://www.navycs.com/09militarypaychart.html. Scroll down when you get there.

As much as you may dislike/hate college a C average is far better than a D. I would suggest you finish your degree, or go to a trade school that will deal with what you enjoy dong. If you find you still want to join, go in as an officer. Many.....MANY people would love to be in your position. Marine boot camp is very difficult, but passable, or there wouldn't be any Marines.
Also look up military pay chart in a search.

I think learning to speak basic English, and take personal responsibility for your actions (no one holds a gun to your head and forces you to get drunk off your *** on the weekends) is more important. Without that second one, it won't matter how fit or good with numbers you are- you WON'T make it in the military without a decent sense of responsibility and, frankly, more maturity. If you actually do those things, the military might not seem like a last-ditch option, which is altogether the wrong reason to join any branch of the service, anyway.

Boot camp is mostly a mind game. So as long as you can understand that nothing is really personal you'll be fine, but also consider, it's a huge commitment and you want to do it for the right reasons. How much do we make? Below poverty level. Hahaha! It all depends though on if you speak a foreign language, if you're married, if you have dependents, where you are stationed, if you are on deployment, and what your rank is. It also has to be taken into consideration that your food and housing is paid for, as well as medical and dental... so all the money you make is pocketed after car payments, internet, tv, and phone bills...which you can live without might I add.

Mr. West,
Hopefully you were just typing fast and forgot to hit spell check. That is by far the worst english I have seen. I recommend you concentrate on the english and less on the math (even though if the numbers are right above and you need 0 credits to graduate wouldn't that mean you are done?) My concern is that you may not be able to pass the ASVAB. While your question isn't coherent I think the focal point of your question is should you join? If school is not for you, and you are more of a hands on person than yes the military is an excellent option. I joined during my second year of college when I realized that I was done with school. Not a good call at the time, but turned out good 24 years later as I am getting ready to retire (and have a Bachelors degree now.) I am sure you can make it (providing you pass the ASVAB) if you determine that this is for you, and while your parents may be upset at first, after you start providing for yourself and they can spend their money on something else they will be happy with your decision.

As far as can you pass boot camp? No one can answer that. We can all speculate, but fortunately you are the only one who can determine that based on your actions and attitude. From what you do physically you should be able to do the body part, but their are three components to a Marine, Mind, Body, and a Warrior Spirit ( the capability to drive on when the other two are telling you to quit) Everyone who reads this question is now going to wonder if you have the ability to do it. Do you?

For pay it all depends on how well you do. I graduated as honor grad out of boot camp and so my first year I was an E-3 enclosed is a link to a military paychart which you can determine how well you will do, as rank is what gets you paid. If you can make E-2 before going you will make about $1500 a month. Doesn't sound like much but your housing, food and medical is all taken care of so it is spending money. Now after 24 years I make about 90k a year. So depends how long you stay in and how well you do.

Good luck

It sounds like you just dont have the motivation to concentrate on the english. Stuff like that doesnt really give people pride, and if you arent too good at it, it can be embarrassing.
If you are good with numbers, you can have all sorts of awesome jobs in the military, but, if you can get a degree you will have a much better time as an officer. You have better hours, more than double the pay, more pride, and you dont have people yelling at you. You might even get to fly something or command a few 70 ton tanks.
If you just really dont have the motivation and confidence in english, but you are college material, there is something in the Marines called MESEP.
MESEP is a program available to enlisted Marines who are Corporal or higher, and who are officer material. The program involves sending you to college with full pay as a sgt, in exchange for something like 6 years as an officer.
Either way, do what you feel will make you happy.

While it is true the toughest thing about recruit training (Marines don't have a boot camp) is keeping the right mental attitude, Marine recruit training is a tough physical test. Yes, they will get you through it if you put out the effort. You'll be running a couple of miles before breakfast by the fourth week. These wannabes like Victory Soldier have never been there. They want to believe they could make it through Marine recruit training. They would be among the 12% who don't make it.

To be able to pass bootcamp is 10% physical, 90% mental, and 100% motivation. If you want it bad enough, you can pass it. As for how much we make a year, that information is easily available online, and is the same across all branches, but starting, since you have college credit, you're looking at E-2 pay which is about $1,500 a month, if you're single with no dependants. You also get a meal card, for free food everyday at the Chow Hall, and a room with a warm bed you don't have to pay for. Best of luck to you

hey man any boot camp or military training is 10% physical and 90%mental so if you think it and believe it you can pass it no matter the branch
